I hope this is the right place to put this...
I got it into my head to download all the community podcasts, since my iTunes doesn't seem to have them all in the podcast feed there, for some reason. while I was doing this, I found some broken links:
this page http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Librivox_Community_Podcast has all the podcasts, way back to the very beginning, but the link to #90, the vidcast, doesn't go anywhere. Internet Archive may have moved things and lost it. googling didn't help, so I don't know where the vidcast lives or if it still exists! anyone else have any clues?
the link for #94 is also broken--http://www.archive.org/download/librivox_community_2009/librivox_community_podcast_94.mp3 -- I think because of the "_2009" in the url?
this link does work (I reverse engineered the other working links to figure out where 94 must be hiding):
http://ia902301.us.archive.org/28/items/librivox_community/librivox_community_podcast_94.mp3
I presume that the more regular version works too.

the Internet Archive collections of podcasts also have a broken link, but I suppose we don't have as much control over fixing that... it's the 2008 podcasts-- https://archive.org/details/librivox_community_2008 --that seem to be lost. but all the regular podcasts from that era are still linked on the wiki, thankfully. I think I managed to download them all this morning, except that mysterious vidcast from 2008.

The link ( https://archive.org/details/librivox_community ) leads to the 2008 podcast page. It looks different from the rest of the links, but it works.plaidsicle wrote:

I couldn't find the vidcast either. Cori is listed as the coordinator on the wiki page, I will send her a PM to see if she remembers.plaidsicle wrote: this page http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Librivox_Community_Podcast has all the podcasts, way back to the very beginning, but the link to #90, the vidcast, doesn't go anywhere. an historical fact
The podcasts were originally all on the same page but it became unweildy so is now on yearly pages. Changing page names at Archive is not something we are authorised to do.

the 2008 link on Internet Archive just never wanted to load for me, I guess.
if you hear from Cori about the vidcast, let us know.

A nose around reveals that the vidcast was "made dark" (i.e. removed) by a certain person five years ago. A similar forum query of why another item was "made dark" by the same person received the answer "possible copyright status issues" or "items with exe files". More nosing around reveals that the person in question makes a habit of deleting videos from IA - rightly or wrongly. Wrongly in this case, but it's probably gone forever, sadly.

aw, that's too bad that it got eaten forever. I guess it was the one and only of its kind. would we ever do a vidcast again for any reason, I wonder?
I also just noticed another little glitch in the wiki page for podcast links-- #141 is provisionally listed as Kangaroo's upcoming podcast (viewtopic.php?f=22&t=61298) but the #141 I downloaded from Internet Archive is actually Catrose's Shakespeare-themed podcast. https://ia800903.us.archive.org/8/items/librivox_community_2013/librivox_community_podcast_141_128kb.mp3
I guess the upcoming "LibriVox Firsts" will really be #143, and the others planned for after that will move up the list accordingly?

ah, I see.
I just had another thought about the podcasts... would it be useful in any way, to anybody anywhere, for someone to transcribe them? does Internet Archive have a slot to upload transcripts to go with the audio?
I ask because I'm about to embark on listening to all 142+ of them... and I might talk myself into transcribing them as I do so, just for my own notes. if there is anything at all appealing to anyone else about having transcripts, it would give me a better reason to do it properly.

I haven't numbered it yet. I added it to space 141 because it was empty, and I didn't know that Catrose's podcast was finished.annise wrote:Kanga must have got a bit enthusiastic - they aren't supposed to be numbered until they are finished.
I'll fix the wiki page when I have time.
