The Little Colonel's Knight Comes Riding by Annie Fellows Johnston (1863 - 1931).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-little-colonels-knight-comes-riding-by-annie-fellows-johnston/
In the previous book in this series, Lloyd was the maid of honor, but now it will be the Little Colonel's turn to be the bride. But who will be the groom? A "Knight Comes Riding" in every chapter, but who will finally measure up to the silver yardstick? Will it be one of our old friends from previous books such as Malcolm MacIntyre, Rob Moore, Alex Shelby, Phil Tremont, or Jack Ware . . .or perhaps a new Knight that comes riding!
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/39594
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'll take the first two chapters. Would like to do more but probably should finish up my other projects first before taking on more. :P

Thank you, Avocado ~ that would be lovely! You are wise not to overload yourself. Feel free to claim more when you do feel like you have the space! :-)

I will also tentatively take chapters 3 and 4, but I likely won't be able to work on those until mid January. I will provide an update if it looks like I can't take them, but since we have a lot of other chapters unclaimed, thought I might as well.

Sounds good! I don't mind the wait since this one isn't exactly moving fast at this point! :-) Thanks for the heads up - it is appreciated!

This is part of a book series that I have been working on in one way or another since I first started here. So almost seven years on, I'm willing to be patient.

Here's chapter two ready for PL.

https://librivox.org/uploads/m8b1/littlecolonelsknightcomesriding_02_johnston.mp3 (23:37)

As an FYI for other recorders, based on the text of the book when the characters are first introduced/spelling of the dialogue for Lloyd, I have been using the following sort of voices for the three girls:

Lloyd - based on how the dialogue was written ("ovah" "motha" etc.) somewhat strong Southern accent (not quite Southern Belle, sort of loud drawl actually).

Gay - a sort of high, girlish voice, "proper" (no accent though)

Kitty - almost always excited. Hint of Valley Girl.
