The Story of Sir Walter Raleigh by Margaret Duncan Kelly ( - 0).
The story of Sir Walter Raleigh from his boyhood days to his exploits in Ireland and his unexpected entry into the court of Queen Elizabeth. We travel with him as he pursues the ships of the Spanish Armada and makes voyages to the New World in search of gold and lands to settle. We learn how he introduced potatoes and tobacco to England and Ireland and more. We hear how he is relegated to the Tower of London where he spends the last years of his life. The Story of Sir Walter Raleigh is a wonderful adventure

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-story-of-sir-walter-raleigh-by-margaret-duncan-kelly-2/

  1. Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=kelly&book=raleigh&story=_contents
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Aaron,
What were you using for your file names? I don't remember if we changed it (shortened it) from what the system automatically suggested.

And your MW is ready. Since we've all checked in, I'll move this to Going Solo to keep our busy launch pad tidy.

Aaron, I've gone ahead and uploaded what I have, section 1. I knew there was PL notes, but I forgot them. I'll have to check again. :)

OK thank you! Sorry I took so long. I have a lot on my hands with another project and I'm kinda freaked out by what happened, so this project is on the bottom of my list right now. I will get around to it though. How long does it usually take to finish a solo?

That's completely fine! :) I've been pretty slow in getting my current solo done, but I think I'll have time to continue on it soon.

Yes. This doesn't happen often, and it's usually not so bad, but when I came onto the forum that one morning, I knew something was wrong. :help:

To be quite honest, that depends a lot on the book, and how much recording time you have. This looks like it has relatively short sections, and there are only 11 chapters, so depending on how much recording time you have, it shouldn't take very long to complete. My first solo had 25 10-15 minute sections, and I completed it in 4 months. My current solo has 18 chapters, each about 15-20 minutes long, and I've been working on it for over a year. :)

Chapter 1 PL notes:
3:32 - As for Good Queen Bess, she was proud of her brave soldiers, (should be sailors. It is a minor edit, but it does change the meaning a little bit.)
Volume is a little high at 92.1 dB, please de-amplify by 3.1 dB

Great job!

OK thank you! I will get to that whenever I can. I don't really have the time right now because I live in a family of four, and I don't have a laptop, so I can't seem to get a quiet house.

I'm in a similar household, and my laptop is really super slow, so I can certainly understand.
