    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/51079
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

  • DURING recording:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Make sure you add this to the beginning of your recording:
    START of recording (Intro)
    • "Chapter [number] of Ned, Bob and Jerry at Boxwood Hall. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
    • If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

Transfer of files (completed recordings) [b]Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader

(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
    • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: lt - Lynnet
    • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.

May I claim Section 1?

And am I correct to assume that this would include the Introduction as well as the first chapter? Or would you like me to do the Introduction as a separate section and record it separately? Please let me know. (I would then claim both the Intro & Chapter 1).

Thanks! :-)

You've got it. Please record both in the same file. Just read the intro at the beginning (maybe say intro and chapter 1), then at the end of the intro leave a short break (no more than 5 seconds - I'd be tempted to leave 3) then say chapter 1.

Okay, here's Intro/Chapter 1:

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/nedbobandjerryatboxwoodhall_01_young_128kb.mp3 13.17 KB / 14 min 02.954 sec

I'd love to claim some more chapters - to start with, chapter 2 (so I can find out what happens to that guy who wrecked his car!) and chapter 30 (the last one).

Thanks!

I can't commit to DPL but I can PL these chapters for you.

Lynne, your ad isn't "sticky"

Lynne, since the introduction is included in the first section should the section title reflect this as well? If you don't pick up a DPL I'll be back. Cute story. Unfortunately, my current DPL list is much too long but fortunately many should be ending soon.

Christine,
Fun loving youths certainly but when they let the moment get the best of them there is sure to be trouble. Boys!

Chapters 1 and 2 are PL ok!

I think that you may be right, if I were setting it up now - but not worth changing.
MW updated.

Okay - here's Chapter 30:

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/nedbobandjerryatboxwoodhall_30_young_128kb.mp3 12 min 47.687 sec / 12.00 KB

And I just have to go on record as saying there's an error in the text, on the last page - but since it's in all the online editions online, and possibly even in the original book, I left it "as is".

But just so I can get it out of my system  - check the paragraph that starts:

Quote:
"Boys, I want to congratulate you on your basketball victory," said Professor Snodgrass, some days after the diamond championship had been decided.

Now I don't know about you, but I was paying attention to the story, and the boys won the baseball game - no basketball game in sight!

Oh well, sometimes you just have to let things go ... and like I said, apparently this error goes all the way back to the original book! So not much we can do about it now! :D

Ok, Christine, you got me hooked. I've been thinking about this story all afternoon. 30 is PL OK and now I have to stick around for chapter 8 and see if the Professor is one of those brilliant yet clueless characters. Motor boys and Cowboys sounds pretty fun too. 8-)

Lynne, I reviewed my pl list again and I have a couple of projects finishing this weekend so may I please DPL?

Thank you both. Drives me mad when there are inconsistencies, too, but we have to go with the text  Maybe, as Linny says, the professor doesn't know a diamond from a hoop.
