Lotus Buds by Amy Wilson Carmichael (1867 - 1951).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/lotus-buds-by-amy-wilson-carmichael/
Amy Carmichael tells the story of work among the girls of India, who she calls "Lotus Buds". ( Adele de Pignerolles)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/29427
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Adelede,

I can MC this for you.

MW is set up and tested.

ID Tags are now added by our software during the catalog process, you can delete that section from the first post if you desire.

I would recommend we wait a couple of days in the Launch Pad in hopes of a DPL spotting this one. We can move over to Readers Wanted: Books sooner since the Launch Pad is large if you prefer.

I've PM'd another DPL to see if they're interested, but I'd rather stay here a bit to see if we can get one. Would it be alright to change the "child life" in the title? It's not really that at all, although I haven't figured out exactly how to classify it. Thanks for MCing! :)

Adelede,

"Child Life" was my best guess after a quick glance at your summary, feel free to update it to something better. "Group" just isn't very informative or attractive for potential readers.

What about [Missionary] or [Hist. India] ?

I have one other question--some of the chapter titles have accents on the letters. Is it alright to put accents? Or does that mess up the MW? Missionary sounds great until I figure out something else. :) I need to change the summary, but that's the best I can come up with right now. Thanks! :D

Adelede,

Accented characters should not be a problem. Internet Archive handles most languages well.

A few punctuation marks like a double quote " which are also parts of their command lines can cause issues.

If you need a double quote, you can use 2 single quotes. The computer will see that as different, but a human will usually see them as the same.

" double quote
'' 2 single quotes

Great, thanks! I think the only place I have double quotes is in the first Notes field, and I'll get rid of that before it's finished. :)

Great book! I just read it last year. (To myself... not on LV.)
Could I reserve section 14, Pickles and Puck? I love Amy C's descriptions of the babies.

MW has been updated with DPL. Let me know if you have trouble accessing this project.

Moving this over to Readers Wanted: Books.

Adele,

This looks beautiful! May I claim Section 6, "Principalities, Powers, Rulers"? Also, is there a date you're hoping to complete the project by? I'll try to get my section in by then, if I can.
