And Distributed Proofreaders (DP) continues to contribute to Project Gutenberg (PG). In about 9 years (since hugh's post above), the number of books proofread and submitted to PG has tripled to more than 32,000!

I am in total awe of the people at DP. I tried once to do some proof reading and it was far, far beyond my ability and patience to do. A big thanks to those great people!

I volunteered with the German version of the DP, which was fine... then I took a break and after a few years switched to the original DP and for some reason I was rubbish there... I missed at least 1 mistake on every page... frustrating... I decided to not pursue proofreading any further... it wasn't meant to be but I applaud any and all proofreaders.... just sorry, my 'mentor' (who is on LV as well) wasted some time on me
