Yes, I agree. I was also thinking about how difficult it can be to get the sound to match if a correction needs rerecording. So I am happy to say this is PL OK!
Carolin wrote:my opinion is that anything that doesnt change the text and is a sufficiently small error needs not be changed (id put those three in that category).

i find that an edit can sound worse than an error - at least i personally cant ever get changes to sound right :)

There’s a typo in the text in this chapter. It’s Captain Watkin Tench, not Trench. I've read it so as to give the correct surname.

Students of American history might be more familiar with Tench’s first cousin, Banastre Tarleton.

Chapter 1 PL OK!

I was pleased to hear John Wilson get an honorable mention. Around a year ago, I read these accounts which suggest he really was the first to cross the mountains - though perhaps you could say he walked around them!

The Cox's River route was the one the cattle duffers used to use. Old bushwalkers tell of a huge bronze cauldron that used to be seen half-hidden on its bank that said duffers used to render the stolen cattle down into tallow, thereby giving them something to sell without those "pesky" brand marks.

I'm given to understand that some early explorer tried the Cox's River, but didn't make the big swing to the right where it turns north, instead continuing on to wind up in the Tartarus Deep, which is a heckuva rough spot to be blundering around in.

Yes, not a lot survives of some of those early colonial government records. A lot of them were unfortunately moved into storage in Sydney's Garden Palace, which almost immediately went up in flames. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_Palace

Have just recorded the next chapter, will edit and post very soon. (By the way, do you think Audacity Noise Removal will remove the noise of a gently snoring cat? )

hi sote,

you had continued with this project during the last month, do i remember that correctly?

if so, please reupload any missing sections, as we lost them.

please also cruise by all group projects you have been involved in within the last month to make sure everything is in order over there :)

thank you!

Whoops! It looks like Hulme and Hovel disappeared in the Great Power Outage!

They were PL OK at the time of their disappearance, so the file just needs to be uploaded again.
