Dear LibriVoxers,

we will celebrate our 11th anniversary on the 10th of August 2016. This is an enormous achievement for an organisation that is purely volunteer driven, without staff, without offices, a budget of zero, and not even big advertisements campaigns. Let's celebrate this milestone in our own way, the only way it ought to be celebrated:

With 10,000 catalogued projects!

We did it!
We catalogued project 10,000 on August 6th, 21:13 GMT!

We're obviously on a roll! How many more can we complete before the anniversary on Wednesday?
The challenge will close on August 9th, midnight Pacific Standard Time.

Final count: 10,022

Readers: Have a look at your claims and record away! Have you submitted all your edits? What about that solo of yours, started 2 years ago, with only 3 sections done? (Here's looking at you, Ava! )
DPLs: Are you on top of your commitments? Maybe there's a section or two in another project that could use your sharp ears!
BCs: Check your Magic Windows - are all your claims current? if you cannot reach a reader, consider opening up old claims for somebody else to read. See also here for a suggested post in all your projects.

This is a very special "clean-up month". It will end on August 9th at the latest - hopefully with 10,000 books in our catalog!
Below you will find a list of projects started last year (as usual), as well as those with less than 5 sections uncompleted (regardless of starting date).
Let's go!

The deadline has passed - thank you for your contributions!

Important note to all BCs: Your projects are eagerly awaited by listeners! For that reason, and also because there is limited space on the Librivox server, we want to make sure that all projects move steadily towards completion.

Please look through your projects for uncompleted sections that were claimed by readers more than 2 months ago.
Post a reply in your project thread saying:

Quote:
"To be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, all unrecorded sections that were claimed more than 2 months ago will be orphaned on July 9th unless the claimants post in this thread before then to reclaim the section."

Code:
[color=red]"To be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, all unrecorded sections that were claimed more than [b]2 months ago[/b] will be orphaned on [b]July 9th[/b] unless the claimants post in this thread before then to reclaim the section."[/color]

Please also edit your first post to include this info.

We want to help you complete your projects! Many thanks for your help in this! :)

Note that we are only including projects in the above list that started before January 2016, or those that are really, really close to completion. :!:
You can still read for other projects as well - every section helps!

This is our latest installment of a clean-up month to see if we can finish 10.000 projects by the time of our anniversary on August 10th.

That's almost 200 projects in only 6 weeks.

Ambitous? Definitely!
Impossible? Not at all - if we do it together!

Please let me know if you have comments or questions - of if I missed any projects of yours. Please post here also when sections in your projects got claimed - or orphaned, whether it is on the list now or not, especially if there's a project of yours that has reached 5 (or less) uncompleted sections!

And now: Let's get to work!
Where's my microphone...?

No they are not included, neither plays nor dramatic readings.

I have checked all the projects in the DR forum and have talked to the MCs most active there (Todd and MaryAnn), and they share my opinion.

Many of the plays/DRs are full and in wait for the readers to record, but even if all readers submitted PL ok recordings tomorrow, the sheer work of editing will probably not be done within the 6 week target anyway, given how many editors we have.

However, if your project is fully recorded and all parts PL OK, and you would like to have help with editing, you can post here as advertisement. I think that's okay.

Well, technically I could already talk of 192 projects left to go since your Anniversary project will definitely be finished in time. But, let's keep our numbers straight here, even if they are not multiples of 11...

Thanks Kim and Carolin - I have updated the list.

Lynne,
I'm sorry but both your projects are not eligible right now
- they were started this year and
- have more than 5 uncompleted sections.

A section is uncompleted if it is in any status other than "complete" (meaning: open/Ready for PL/Pl notes/Ready for Spot PL). I would like to keep this particular part of the first post as short as possible for the really really fast moving projects.

Your "Famous Impostors" project is okay though - I've added it to the top list.

Over (my) night, we have catalogued 9 projects.

If we can keep up this speed, there will be no problem whatsoever with reaching the 10000...

Please keep reading!
Every single open project is looking for readers, whether it is on the list above or not.
Every single section counts - no matter which project you are reading for: On the list, not on the list, solos, dramas...

We can do this!

The maths goes - in June 2015 we had "June High Noon" where 120 projects were completed - most since 2009! And now we need to complete 190+ so in my mind it makes sense to pick up those DR's which can be easily completed.

I counted that there are 6 DR's that are "full". Those will be a good addition to the completed books. Ask the MC's and BC's to hurry up their completion.
These 3 projects are very close to completion:
Treasure Island is 3 roles short of completion.
Bible Stories of the Old Testament needs 6 roles (1 chapter each)
Imaginary Conversations needs 11 roles (1 chapter each) (also older than 1 year).

The problem is not the reading as I said above, the problem is the editing. And I don't see any of those projects finished with reading + role PLing + editing + act PLing within the six weeks we have. This has nothing to do with the BCs (many of them don't edit themselves) and certainly not with the MCs.

Don't get me wrong, by all means, feel free to help with the DRs, even if we don't finish them any move towards completion is a good one. But we have so many other normal projects open where reading and PLing alone suffices to finish them, I think this thread should focus on those.
