I am great fan of David Hume, and being also an avid reader in the philosophy of religion, his Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion is among my favorites. I have considered coordinating this project as a dramatic works, because it's a lot like Plato's dialogues, but in the end I've decided it'd be better for me to go solo.
The first reason for this is practical - unlike Plato's dialogues, there's a narrator, Pamphilus, who constantly interjects into the middle of the speeches to tell us that Cleanthes said such and such "with an air of contempt" or something like that. It'd be awkward to have someone speak those lines, but it's often necessary to know what he says. But he does have some long speaking parts as well. So it'd be too confusing to have one person speak Pamphilus's parts half the time, and then the other three people speaking his parts the other half. This is resolved much more easily by just doing it alone.
My other to reasons, to be honest, are purely selfish. I'll have a whole month with nothing to do when this semester ends, and I would like to get it done during that time. Still, I'm giving myself some leeway on the target completion date. The other reason is that I like the work so much, I wanna do it all myself! I want to become intimately acquainted with this work, and I know that reading every paragraph over and over until you get the emphasis just right is a great way to do it.
