IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi
Welcome to LibriVox, Good try at the template but there are a few essential things missing.
But first of all -
please read your welcome email , or if you've lost it , the guides for Listeners & volunteers linked top of every page, and do the 1 minute test - it's not an audition, it's a chance for you to get your file specs right. No one wants to have to get you to redo a whole chapter because it doesn't match our technical requirements, so it ends up being fiddled with to make it match, the sound quality falls off , your solo then starts with a dodgy first section and anyone wanting to listen goes and looks at the other Plato versions we have and picks one of them to listen to.
The best thing to do when your test is OK is to find something in the readers wanted that interests you and claim it, that's the easy way to work out how things go.

Then back to your template.
You need to list your source/sources, the MC has to be able to be sure they are PD - yes Plato dies a long time ago , but his translators may not have
We need to know how many sections you need - I can't help you with that as I don't know what you are planning to read - probably about 30 mins long would be good for these , though you can go up to about 70 minutes

Anne

I've copied my message and will delete the other post

Thank you very much!!! Tommorow I will upload a test recording. Also I will add the sections and other information about the project. I'm going to record only ancient Greek texts using the standart edition of Burnet/oxford.there will be no translations or any other texts that might have copyright. wish good night and see you tommorow.

"the standart edition of Burnet/oxford" - I don't know what this means. :) Is it a hard copy? If so, we'll need to see a scan or photo of the title page and copyright page, so we can verify its PD status.

You can put both images in to a zip file, then upload to the uploader using folder "zz - non-project" at the very bottom of the list.

Standard edition means the genuine stereotype text of Plato. Burnet-Oxford has published the stereotype ancient Greek text of all Platonic works. What I will record for this Project is a collection of platonic myths and allegories from all his dialogues. The recording will be in ancient Greek language. I'm not going to use any translation!
But the way, where shall I post the link of uploading the zip file with the photos you need?

Oh! Are you using all Archive.org scans as your texts? Then you can just post the links to each one. :)

Oh!! that is a very Good Idea!! I will use them. All my recordings are from edition that are posted on archive.org online. Yet I also have the printed versions of them at my home, but they are the same! Actually they are just a reprint of what archive.org has posted.

Hi there! I see you have a working recording setup now. If you're ready to begin this project, I will set it up for you.

Can you provide the links to the online texts in archive.org that you'll be using for each of your 19 sections?

OK, Magic Window is ready for you to fill in section titles!
For first time log-in and creating a password follow these steps: link. After that, you access the magic window by clicking the link under it: "BC Admin".

For detailed information on how to fill in the MW (Magic Window) please read the following paragraphs from this guide:
4.A. Entering titles into the Section Compiler
4.B. Adding Word Counts, Text Links or PL Notes: (this will tell you how to enter the file duration in the notes field)
4.E. Adding links to uploaded files (whenever you upload a new file, it keep things organised if you post in the thread and add the link in the MW)
4.F. Changing the status of a section NEW! (to indicate that the file is ready for PL, etc)

This is your Reader page in the catalog: https://librivox.org/reader/10928
You can also access it by opening your name-link in any MW.

Since this appears to be a collection of excerpts from Plato's works containing the various myths and allegories, please keep the text unchanged so that it remains in the public domain; we can read an excerpt from a text as is, but we are not allowed to remove or add to it.

The first post should give you all the information about recording and uploading, but if there are any questions, please ask!

I'm very happy to work with you on an Ancient Greek project!

I will move the thread to the "Going Solo" sub-forum later, but you can bookmark the link viewtopic.php?f=28&t=61010 to find it easily.

I'd like to suggest that we use the scanned works from one provider, so that we have consistency in editions and scan quality. How about:

https://archive.org/details/platonisopera03platuoft
