Stories Worth Rereading by Various ( - 0).
All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/stories-worth-rereading-by-various/
Volunteers outside the USA: Based on available death dates, the work of some of the authors in this collection appear to be still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1954) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years). Please see the MW for more information on available death dates.
A collection of short stories about many people. Some being tested, some being rewarded, all worth rereading! Many of them are the type to build character and inspire the readers to become men and women for God. They include various missionary, home and school stories. Numerous poems are also found sprinkled through this book.( Trotsa)
  • NOTICE: Various poems are found between the stories. These are all short poems and are to be recorded separately unless otherwise noted in the MW.

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/9508
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Note to MC:
I had started this book almost two years ago and then had to leave LV rather suddenly, and since nothing was recorded, we dropped this project. Last time when we started it there was some discussion about whether we should credit each author or lump them all under 'various' and leave it at that. My MC discussed it with the other MCs and it was decided to just call them various because the authors of this book are not very well known. Since this is the second time around, maybe that has changed... and I am willing to add all the authors if I need to. Just let me know.

Also short poems follow numerous of these stories that are obviously inserted to go with the story before them. Could I just have the readers read the poem along with the story, or should I give every poem it's own reader?

I will need a DPL because I am planning on reading at least a few of these myself. Thanks!

Note to any admin who reads this:

I'm having to take an unexpected trip and will be gone for a little over a week. Is there any way this project could simply be put onhold until I'm back? Or should I just delete it?

Magic Window is set up for you.
Do you know how to enter the metadata for the authors? Just list any that you can't find in the database and I'll add them later.

OK, it's all set up now except for the authors who weren't in the database. Most of them weren't so this list is very long. Also I ran out of sections because I'm doing all the titled poems separate, and I was adding more one by one and for some reason it would add five instead of one and I didn't catch on right away so there are way too many extra sections! I am sorry about those.

I've been working on it for the past two hours so i'm going for a break and I'll finish word count and get you the list of authors later today.

That's fine. There's no hurry - it just needs to be done before catalog time :D . It's also very easy for me to delete extra sections, so when you're sure it's all correct, just let me know and I can neaten things up. It might be a good idea to edit the first post to specify that files should be in the 3 digit format as there are over 100. That simplifies things later on and keeps everything in the right order.

When you do the list of authors, if you have any details (eg dates, Wikipedia or something I can add to the blurb -professor of archaeology from Venus or whatever) that would be a huge help.

Lynne here are the authors. I looked and looked but most of them there is just no info on them at all, not even complete names. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but here is what I came up with.
Also you can go ahead and delete the exta sections. I think we are ready for business now! I checked and we have 99 sections once the empty ones are deleted, so looks like we don't need to change it to a 3 digit format.

OK, I'll see what I can do.
Extra sections deleted.
We'll hang around on the launch pad to see if we pick up a DPLbut let me know if you want to move over to Readers Wanted.

Thanks! I know it's kinda a nasty book as far as all the authors go. I've been working on it all afternoon and it's rather sticky. :? Good luck!
Let's stick around here for at least another day or so. I'm really hoping to get a DPL.

I have added a disclaimer at the beginning, regarding readers outside the US (I see dates of 1957 and 1970) - so the MW will have to be marked where we know the author's death date. If we can't discover it, after a reasonable effort, we cannot be held liable. Will do more research tomorrow.

OK that is great I noticed you put some death dates in; do you want to me to finish putting in the rest that I have on the list?
