Mr Sponge's Sporting Tour by Robert Smith Surtees (1805 - 1864).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/mr-sponges-sporting-tour-by-robert-smith-surtees/
Mr. Sponge's Sporting Tour is a delightful comic satire of the fox-hunting fraternity of the mid 19th Century. Surtees takes great pleasure in creating comic personalities and dialogue and resembles the later Pickwick Papers of Dickens, whose style may well have been influenced by Surtees. The story follows the eponymous Soapy Sponge, a Victorian freeloader and confidence trickster, who manages to work his way around the gentrified houses of southern England, fox-hunting as he goes. (Kevin Green)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

All set to go. I shortened up the filenames so they are not so long.

Just a thought, is it ok to number the preface 00 so that I can keep the chapter numbers in sync with the section numbers?

And off we go. As you'll probably hear, I've got a cold, so probably won't be doing much until my nose is clear again :( . Nice short preface to start with

Barry
just a query about the tags put on the work at the start - I've tagged this 'dramatic reading', as I do the various voices for the characters (best I can anyway). Is that dramatic reading, or is dramatic reading reserved for multi reader works?

Probably not really hurting anything but we normally reserve that for the multi-reader/character projects.
