Time to try something new. Can I claim 18 (Daily Death)?

I assuming you also would want the pre-and post text read as well (if so, 1 Cor xv, 31 should be done as 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15, Verse 31, 1 Corinthians 15:31, or 1st Corinthians <somethingsomething> )

I think I can sound priestly :P

Hi PurposefulAbnegation and a big welcome to LibriVox! :D With a name like that this is indeed the right project for you! I have assigned that section to you but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums

And how would you like to be credited in our catalog? What name? most of us use our real name but it is up to you.

Ask if anyting is confusing at all. :D

Your test recording is OK in all tech aspects except that it has a lot of really loud background noise. Please turn off all fans, appliances, air conditioners and things like that, move your microphone away from your computer and try again. If you listen to your test recording you can heard the loud hiss and hum going on there; the object is to record in as quiet an environment as possible because your mic will pick up everything. So please move to a more quiet area and make another test, call it test 2 or something so i can tell it apart and upload it.

Be patient, this will work out fine in the end but it can be frustrating getting your recording set up standardized; that is why we do these tests. What kind of set up do youhave by the way? what microphone and recorder? :D

I used Audacity. I think I will have to get a new microphone... I don't know what kind it is for sure, but it was what was I had and I wanted to see if it would work. Obviously it doesn't! ;) I was in a silent bathroom, just my computer and I nothing on, so that I could control the background noise. In addition, once I get the new mic I will try to record as far from the computer as possible to reduce any computer related fan noise.

Does that seem like a good plan?

Hmmmm. I have never seen that degree of noise floor in a quiet environment like a bathroom. Are you recording into a laptop? Perhaps some place with more sound absorption in it might be better. Again, something is producing a ton of low level frequency noise (below 1k). I have a feeling that once you find out what it is, it will be simple to fix and you can get to having fun! Try another place with curtains and stuff and watch it on Audacity. You have a delightful voice by the way Image

Yes, I am recording on a laptop. I tried to record in a different room with a lot of sound absorption and it was no better. I then recorded nothing and it is my microphone! So I have one of the recommended mics on order and will give it another go with that! Oh, thank you about my voice. I think that it will take some time to get good at reading/recording before I am where I want to be (difference between listening to myself and some of my favorite readers)! :D

Section 18 has been uploaded. Running time : 4m 16.824s

I actually had 1/2 a mind to go full Southern Pentecostal on this....but don't think the neighbors would have appreciated the ruckus (or the tambourines) :P
