The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare (1554 - 1616).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here: https://librivox.org/the-comedy-of-errors-ver-3-by-william-shakespeare/
What happens when two sets of identical twin brothers, separated at birth, end up in the same city and neither pair knows the others exist? Comedy. And errors. The Comedy of Errors! (Rather self explanatory really...) With heaps of fun identity mix-ups, nagging wives, engagements, wit and, surprisingly, a demonic procession, what isn't there to love about Shakespeare's shorter comedy?!
After the success of Merchant of Venice, we hope you will join this crazy, exciting project to read Shakespeare in two weeks and help us tell the story of the two Antipholi and the two Dromios! Come on. You know you want to  TEMPORARY SUMMARY ( by Adele de Pignerolles (and Charlotte Duckett))
BCs: Adele de Pignerolles and Esther ben Simonides
DPL: Catrose
Editors: commonsparrow3, AdeledePignerolles, EstherbenSimonides, SweetPea
  1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you have your role in by March 7. The deadline to complete the whole project is March 14, including editing and PLing. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://shakespeare.mit.edu/comedy_errors/index.html
  5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Adele and I are playing the two Dromios (I will remember who is which eventually). Charlotte is DPLing and reading Adriana. The Antipholuses are gender specific.

And let the Comedy of Errors begin! (Hopefully we don't have too many errors... :D )

Having had such fun as part of your previous Shakespeare Flash Mob, I'd be delighted to be part of this one!
May I sign up to edit an act again?
Also, may I claim the part of Aemilia the Abbess in Act 5?

So much for getting a full days rest before the next one starts  Glad to see the better text link! By the end of Merchant, this was quite fun and so it's a joy to be back!

Can I put my hand up for the doomed Aegeon, unless you want a chap for the role?

Pretty please?

Certainly! The only parts we're making Gender Specific this time are the two Antipholuses.
Thanks!

Couple of things . . .

The source - the website you have linked to doesn't say where it is getting the text of the play from. Is it available on Gutenberg so we can be sure of PD status?

edit: I see two PG versions used previously 1104 and 23046.

Your intro text doesn't mention any deadlines yet . . . just the regular "2 months" to finish claimed sections.

Can we tempt you with a role in this one, Maryann? It's a load of fun and hilarity!

ETA: I'll get you the copyright information on it now. It is very very certainly 100% PD though.

Yes, but we need to know that the HTML version of the play was taken from a source that it itself public domain . . . They don't say what their source is.

There are 4 PD versions on PG - ok, ignore the first folio version because we have learned that that version is difficult to read, that leaves 3 clearly PD versions. Two have been done before, one has not. Will one of those work?
