... themed around a particular animal?

I had a bit of a look, but I didn't see anything obvious. (Bears of very little brain, such as I, need "obvious". )

You could have dog, cat, horse collections, just for starters. It might be possible to extend to other broader classes. Anything of a poem, prose, or song nature would be acceptable. It could be anything from kiddie story to deeply philosophical stuff.

Anyway, just running it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes it.

We had a coffee break collection on animals in general:
https://librivox.org/coffee-break-collection-008-animals/

and one on nature:
http://librivox.org/coffee-break-collection-003-nature/

Other than that, there are no collection type things centering on specific animals that come to mind here. :hmm:

BT did one on cats https://librivox.org/cat-tales-by-various/ but he aimed them at kids. Mixing fluffy bunny type tales with adult tales is probably not a brilliant idea from the listeners point of view. Just saying - you can start a project about anything you like you know :D

So then it looks as though the way may be clear for the "Woof Collection", the "Meow Collection", and the "Neigh-Sayers Collection"?

We have books on cats:

and dogs:
https://librivox.org/search?q=dogs&search_form=advanced

and Black Beauty of course

Maybe start with something a bit exotic like... budgies?

...or lizards!
But deep below its surface crawl
The reptile horrors of the night
The dragons, lizards, serpents all
The hideous brood that hate the light;

"...or lizards!"

Classy English accent notwithstanding, you sure you don't have some Australian somewhere in your ancestry, Ruth? :D

We have lizards! Admittedly not very many, and one of them doesn't have any legs...
