The Bobbsey Twins on a Houseboat by Laura Lee Hope ( - ).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on the catalog page for this project: https://librivox.org/the-bobbsey-twins-on-a-houseboat-by-laura-lee-hope/
The Bobbsey family are are staying on a houseboat for summer vacation! At first all seems to be going well - what with fishing, playing with friends, and exploring the river. But then a mean farmer arrives, who seems determined to stop the trip. Why? Where has Will Watson, his mistreated hired boy, run away to? Who is stealing food from the houseboat? Who or what made the strange noises the cook heard? It's up to the Bobbsey twins to find out! (Summary by Rachel)

This is number six in the Bobbsey Twins series, which were published by the Stratemyer Syndicate under the house pseudonym of Laura Lee Hope.
  • Volunteers outside the USA: This book was published under the house pseudonym of Laura Lee Hope, but the real author is thought to be Howard R. Garis (1873 – 1962). Since he died in 1962, it may still be protected by copyright in places like Europe (copyright term is author's death plus 70 years) and Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955).

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5948
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Exciting! I'd love to claim the first three chapters. (I'm sure I can do more, but I don't want to get over-ambitious during the holidays - especially since I'm going to be out of town for a week.)

Hi Sangat,
Welcome to Librivox! :D
I have signed you up for that section - thank you :D. Before you start recording, it's a good idea to send in a one-minute test - that way you won't end up recording something only to find out your settings are wrong and you'll have to redo it. Once you've done that you can come back here and record your section.

I'll also need to know how you want your name to appear in the catalogue. That can be your forum name, your real name (or part of it - I use my first name), or something entirely different. We can also link to a personal website / blog. :)

Thank you!
Rachel
