All PL OK, Algy. There are a couple of minor deviations from the text, but nothing that matters, especially as it is the mic quality rather than the text that is important in this project.

Section 6
In your post you say it's an Zoom H4H, in the Magic Window it says Zoom - Hn4, and in the recording you say Zoom H4N. Not being familiar with the little beast, could you clarify which one it is?

Thanks Ruth

It is actually a Zoom H4N (not a good model name for folk with dyslexia). MW has been corrected.

The Zoom was my most expensive - and most disappointing - microphone purchase. I don't like the sound at all - to me it is edgy and congested. However, I believe that some people get great results with these devices.

Cheers

Section 10 - the mic is "Apogee MiC". That's the way they spell it. Actually it's for both USB and iPad.

Reading is PL OK.

The Akiro sounds quite impressive, given its small size - and low price. It is certainly better than the equivalent product from Logitech.

Hi!

Yeah, I know, that my choice of text is not exactly innovative or anything,
but yeah...

Since there hasn't been awful lot of activity on this thread for a while,
I though it might be okay, if I just go ahead and record entry 17.

Title: Extract from Pride and Prejudice
Author: Jane Austen (1775-1817)

Recorded using a Studio Projects C1 (large diaphragm, fixed-cardioid condenser microphone), a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 interface, Cubase (Pro) 8 on a Windows PC.

Also, I could reserve at least a slot for Studio Projects C4 (small diaphragm).
Since C4 has actually changeable capsules (so a real cardioid and omni),
I wonder if it would be interesting to hear the difference?

Also, I could record both of them at the same time, but since different texts are preferred,
this is not most likely wanted.

Also, is it fine to record these in other languages? (In this case I'm interested in Finnish, naturally)

Thanks Melchior

Your reading is PL OK.

In this case using a different capsule in a microphone would actually make it a different microphone. Therefore I have allocated a further two sections to you.

A recording in Finnish would be fine.

The C1 sounded lovely. Who needs a Neumann U87?

Cheers

Hello.
Here are my two next ones.
Even though the text is in Finnish, I made the preamble in English.
I hope this is ok.
I forgot I have actually the Mark II version of C4, but it is not included
in the spoken preamble.

Thanks Melchoir

Both readings are PL OK.

I thought that that small diaphragm capsules were basically for instrument recording - it is interesting that they also work well for spoken audio.

I hope you can add to our rather scanty collection of works in Finnish. You have an excellent voice.

Cheers

Thanks Glenn

Reading is PL OK.

I am not at all familiar with Havit products but this microphone seems to do the job well.

Thanks for that.

I bought the microphone a couple of weeks ago.

Algy, could you not put the upload URLs in the metadata, please? They will be filled in automatically with the correct Internet Archive URLs at cataloguing :).
