A Primary Reader: Old-time Stories, Fairy Tales and Myths Retold by Children by E. Louise Smythe (1858 - 0).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-primary-reader-by-e-louise-smythe/
This is a book of simple, classic stories for beginning readers. It is included in Year 1 of the Ambleside reading list. There are short lists of reading words on each page, and these have been read by a child. (Summary by Sarah Jennings)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7841
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • "Chapter [number] of A Primary Reader by E. Louise Smythe. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."

Wow, that was fast.
Yes, you may!
Thanks. :)

We have 5 chapters recorded but they still need editing. Hopefully will not take too long as the chapters are very short.

Off to Going Solo!

And here's chapter 1:

5:33

That'll be it for tonight!

I'd be happy to have your feedback on sound quality, too. I had to amplify Abby so much that there was fair bit of background noise. To me, it sounds like I've got the best possible balance between noise and over-cleaning, but your ears are younger than mine. :)

Preface and Chapter 1 are PL OK! :D

I agree, there is a bit of background noise, but it isn't too bad and I'd much rather listen to that than too much noise cleaning ;). I think the sound quality is pretty good overall

Edit: I'm not in as DPL, so I can't mark them PL OK, but they are :D

Chapter 2 is PL OK! :D I like this story, I don't think I've heard it before.

Don't worry about Robin Hood - I can't actually edit right now, so whenever you do the fix is fine with me :)
