Yes those are available and are assigned to you John. Note that they are sections 14, 15 and 16 in the magic window. Enjoy and don't hesitate to ask questions about LibriVox or anything. We are a friendly bunch here.RandolphCarter wrote:I would love to record chapters 1-3 in book 4, are these sections still open?

here is the section 14 (book 4, chapter 1) recording link:

I did my best to make the recording as professional as possible, but it is my first official recording for a book so I would really appreciate any tips and general advice to improve my recordings in the future.

EDIT: one note for future recordings, the file name has 128kb, not 128kbs. you don't need to change anything, I will fix this in validation, it is just for your future recordings.
Also first book recording here:

Please let me know any advice/tips you have, as I'm editing the audio for the other parts
Thank you!

Well this is exciting! Another first book recording in a row. Probably the start of two great careers in recording here. Petunia the Perky LibriVox Penguin (a volunteer)will put this into the Magic Window for proof listening.Kaneyoto wrote:Also first book recording here:

EDIT: Also a note on the file naming to remember for future tracks: there is a 'xenophon' in there after the section number and before the 128kb. I will fix this too at validation.
OK, I will keep that in mind. Also I forgot to mention that my recording is 22 minutes and 53 seconds.philchenevert wrote:Well this is exciting! Another first book recording in a row. Thanks so much for reading for us! Your reading is just fine.RandolphCarter wrote:here is the section 14 (book 4, chapter 1) recording link:

There is, however, one technical note. The volume of these recording is just a bit too low, measured in our Checker program at 85.8 dB. The LibriVox target is 89dB with a margin of a few dB either way. So, just amplify this about 3dB, and easy task in Audacity, then upload the new recording under the same name.
Welcome to LibriVox!
I look forward to hearing many more fine recordings from you.

Thank you!
One small technical issue: The background noise in this recording is quite loud, so I ran the Noise Reduction in Audacity at 15db, just so I could listen to it comfortably. I actually do this routinely on all my recordings, and the result is a much cleaner file.
So, please run Noise Reduction on this, and upload the new file (you can use the corrected file name tha Phil pointed out) and post a note here. Phil has a great video tutorial on doing this, which you will find on the LibriVox site.

OK, I will do just that.
Do you recommend that I put it through once at 15db or several times at a lower setting?
Also, I noticed that there are 3 different toggles and they all do different things, but I notice when I run it too much my voice starts to sound tinny.
Any advice for how to cut the BG?
I'll also listen to the tutorial
Thanks for the feedback
