The reading on this is fine, Tina, but there is quite a loud background noise in the recording, so it could really benefit from some noise reduction. I tested it at 15dB and it sounded so much better. Somethin you should also consider for your future recordings. I do it as a matter of course on mine.

Hi Larry! Yes I think I forgot my second run of noise reduction...the background hiss doesn't go away completely, i have a a very cheap microphone (planning to buy a new one soon)
so, i hope this is better, if i do more, it starts to distort the voice

Your Section 6 is much better now, so I'm marking it PL OK.

These two sections are also fine except that you omitted "This recording in the public domain" from your "outro." Should be easy to tack onto the end of these.

Upload and post a note here with the new running times.

Then, find a couple more of these poems to read for us!

Just a couple of technical notes:

1).The ending period of silence should be only five seconds for recordings under thirty minutes.

Section 10 is 7 secs. and Section 11 is 10 secs., so these need to be trimmed accordingly.

2). The volume in both is just a bit low, both at 8.2 dB The LibriVox target is 89dB with some leeway either side, and this are probably within the lower range of acceptability, but as long as you're doing the other editing, it would be good to amplify these up a couple of notches.

Upload the corrected files under the same name then post a note here with the new running times.

Most importantly -- very good reading! I hope to hear a lot more of your voice here on LibriVox.

PS: I could hear birds chirping in the background throughout Section 11. It is not serious enough to need any correction, but something to keep in mind for the future. Maybe not too bad for this poem, though LibriVox does frown on sound effects.

Thanks for the kind feedback! Seems I have made a newbie mistake, however. When I exported the files I didn't save the original audacity file for these poems.

This gives me a chance to go back and re-do them both and make them better. I think I may be sitting too far from the mic. I'm going to change my recording environment and try to take care of the sound. If that doesn't bring the sound level up, I will do it within audacity. I too noticed the birds but couldn't persuade them to go away. Hopefully locating to a different room will reduce some of the background noise. I should have these two redone and ready by the end of the day. Thanks.
