Knitting! (and other needle arts...)
I think I would do the same thing, except I not sure if I could keep away from my knitting needles for very long.tis wrote:The only thing I've ever knitted was a toy dinosaur, which I made for my fiancee as a Christmas present.
She promptly christened it 'Leonard the Lizard' and I haven't picked up knitting needles since .

The description says that this is where knitting is discussed.
I know how to do 1 stitch in knitting. Only have knitted potholders and scarves, though. Feel free to talk aboutKnitting here.

I made a post in the former "Der Spam Heap" about shirts/hoodies that some of the knitters might be interested in: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=916&p=1106943#p1106943

My brother likes finger-knitting, he's the only person I know who has the patience to finger-knit a 20-foot chain.
I've never heard of finger knitting. Is that like arm knitting?

I'm not quite sure what arm knitting is. Finger knitting is like knitting (I think) with out needles.
This is finger knitting:

It's basically knitting but using your arm or fingers as the needles.

Oh, ok, so finger knitting is comparable to loom knitting, and arm knitting is comparable to needle knitting.

I thought that finger knitting was more like crochet. I've actually made a crochet hat with only my fingers.

There's probably a version that's like crochet, but in the version MrsHand linked to, there are multiple live stitches at a time, which doesn't happen in crochet.
ETA: Though, maybe it's just the pedant in me, but shouldn't that be called "finger crocheting"?

I came to this forum because I was promised knitting chat! I didn't see a thread on it, so I'm starting one:
Does anyone have any favourite YouTube tutorials on knitting?
In particular I'm interested in knitting a beanie, and learning to do cable knitting.

Hi Beth,
I learned to knit a long time ago - way before the days of YouTube, but I've just found this nice quiet cable stitch tutorial for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG3E1-pacI0
Hope it helps
