Hooray for our first section! Thanks, Larry! Is someone available to PL this since it's from our DPL? (I'd offer, but I won't be able to for some days.) I'm working on a section myself about the digestive tract of the rabbit, written by H.G. Wells

Edit: My husband now assumes that the H.G. stands for "hare guts".

To the MC: I didn't see Rufus Porter in the dropdown menu in the meta edit. Should he be added?

Yes. All new authors need to be added to the author list by an MC. I've added Rufus Porter. Just a note about the section metadata. Please do not add the mp3 link in the metadata. That data is entered by the system when the project is cataloged. You do need to paste the link to the source text in the Source field next to the author. As a guide, you can see how I've done this for section 1.

Hi,

I have two recordings nearly ready for submission to this collection. I couldn't see any mention in the top post, though, about adding ID3 tags to MP3 files. Should we be adding them, or just leaving them out? I'm rather puzzled about this, because most projects seem to require them, but others not. I know I've added tags in previous coffee break collections - has there been a change in policy I've missed? Thanks,

Hi Garth,

In the new workflow system, ID3 tags are now automatically added to all the files during cataloging, so readers no longer need to add them. Not all MCs remove the ID3 tag section or add a note in the top posts, but ID3 tags are now optional. If you like to have them on your personal copy, then by all means add them, but it's no longer a requirement for LibriVox.

The new system uses the information that is entered in the MW and the main project entry in the database to create the tags for us.

Hello again, and here are my two recordings, which I hope are suitable for the collection. They're both taken from the same book, "Plant Life and Plant Uses", by John Gaylord Coulter (1876 - ?), and I suppose come under the headings of Botany and Physics. Although the book was written for boys and girls, I thought the chatty style of writing was interesting.

Larry, though I'm happy to do MW updates, you had asked about the Link to Text section: you can click on one of the above sections and copy the code there, then change the link (the part in quotes) to the Gutenberg link in question. Since you already PLed those sections, I won't do the same for sections 2 and 3, but that's how you do it!

I've recorded and uploaded section 4 with the MW updated, so it's ready for PL!

Also in recording this, I realized the intro and outro needed some trimming. Mentioning the name of the collection three times in a 10 minute recording is a bit overkill! (In the other collections, we don't mention the name of the collection at all btw.) Sorry I missed this at the beginning. I've edited it in the top post.

Thank you to Jo and Pyledriver for our next sections!! I really appreciate it! The MW has been updated and they're ready for PL. Jo, all 4 of these sections are Scientific American and I had trouble finding the author credits for each individual article. What would be the best way to list the authors for these?

And I agree with the intro and outro. The Coffee Break collection has been like this since the beginning, I believe, and I figured it was standard form for the mixed collections, but it is a bit long since they're all shorter. Makes a ton of sense. Thanks for changing the first post!
