British Goblins: Welsh Folk-lore, Fairy Mythology, Legends and Traditions by Wirt Sikes (1836 - 1883).

The British Isles, in particular Wales, are renowned for legend and folklore. The author, an American journalist working in Europe, was appointed Consul to Wales and thus began his fascination with Welsh folklore. He became a renowned authority and published several books on the subject. This work is more of a scholarly discussion on the origins and geography than a narration of the stories. ( Lynne Thompson)

     Need noise-cleaning?
     Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

I'm in the process of making up Google docs and I discover there re passages of Welsh They are not covered on the site I linked for place names. I'm not sure if we have Welsh readers (as in those who read the language) so we may be a bit stuck.

Thanks Rob - there are plenty of fun Welsh words (which I could take a stab at, having lived there 7 years...in fact within a stone's throw of one of the places talked about) but it was the passages of verse that were worrying me. But Mr. Sikes very kindly provided translations, so I am happy to have just the translations read if readers are not comfortable with the verse.

Tom, please be sure to read the instructions for PL - basically what you are looking for (repeated sentences, stumbles "he we... went" etc. It's up to you whether you read along with the text - for standard PL, it isn't necessary but if you're listening and you go "huh? That doesn't make sense" you would want to check the text. If you feel it really changes the meaning, by all means ask for a correction.
I am prepared to allow a lot of leeway on the welsh words... You can look up pronunciation online but even then, it's not the easiest language. The passages of verse are translated into English and it is fine to just have the English read.

Also check for background noise (especially that is distracting) and volume (if you download the Checker program, we are looking for 89 dB +/- 2)

Bev will give you a password and instructions for entering in the Magic Window.

As an aside, if you look in the new projects launch pad (see drop down at the bottom of the page), any title preceded by a tilde (~) is looking for a DPL.

Welcome to Librivox and this project!

I have entered you as the DPL (dedicated prooflistener). I need to know what name you would like to be listed under in the catalogue. This can be your forum name, real name, or any other that you choose.

Here are instructions for getting a password and access to the MW (Magic Window) and what to do when you're in there. Most of it is aimed at the BC (Book Coordinator) but as DPL you will be required to change the status in the "Status" column. It is simply a matter of choosing the correct option from a drop-down menu.
