Once again PL all OK.

Listening to his rather lengthy description of his seaside villa was a bit like being exposed to daytime television. However, I'm just jealous, since prices in Brighton are now such that I couldn't afford to by a half share in a box-room.

Another section for you:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/lettersofpliny_06_plinytheyounger_128kb.mp3
26.0MB, 28 mins 29.
Some interesting obituaries here but I suspect that Pliny's expressions of grief are as much an act for dramatic effect as my readings of them!

PL OK for this section.

Pliny's 24/7 public persona, mediated through rhetorical conventions, stands, I suppose, at the opposite pole to the diary of Samuel Pepys, who was unable to communicate his private life without the use of shorthand and, where 'necessary', code.

Best wishes

32mins 46s length.

Hope your Virgil and Corvo are going well, Martin.

Hi Andrew

You've had some sort of mishap with Section 07:
MP3Gain measures the amplitude at 106 dB, with universal clipping. (The preceding file had a within-tolerance level of 87.2) As it is, the sound is harshly distorted and mismatching.

How you tackle this depends of course on what other saved versions of the file you have available. If you did a final amplification from a low level, it should be straightforward enough to repeat the volume adjustment based on an outcome of 87-92 dB. The reading itself is word-perfect.

Thanks for asking about my progress with Dante and the Baron Corvo biography. Alas, I am stalled on both for the time being, for various health reasons. However, like Baroness Orczy's hero, I shall return.

Best wishes
Martin

Friends, just wanted to let you know I had been away for quite a while, dealing with life, work and all that, but I am back on track again. ^.^

Section 9 now uploaded: https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/lettersofpliny_09_plinytheyounger_128kb.mp3
30.3 MB,
33 mins 08 s.

By the way, is there a way of deleting the extra sections from the Magic Window? I over-estimated how many sections I would need as I didn't realise how short the Trajan correspondence is, so I only need 22 sections. If it's a problem, it can wait until all the files are submitted.
