I would love to read this book. It was printed in 1923, so hopefully should be in the Domain :

Schweitzer was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952. Two of his books are already available on Librivox.

Hmmm. That's a tough one. The scan that you have linked to has a publication date of 1924.

The LV Wiki states:
Published works that fall into one of the following categories may be included in the Librivox catalog:

* Works published in 1922 or earlier (the copyright has expired in the U.S. on these works),
I see from the title page that this work was originally published in 1922, with what they are calling "reprints" in 1922, 1923 and 1924. I'm leery about "reprints". If they changed any of the text for the 1924 printing, that would attract a new copyright. It would be best if we could rummage around and find a scan of the book published in 1922.

By the way, anyone can upload material to Internet Archive without a prior screen of copyright status. So the fact that the book is on IA doesn't mean that it is public domain.

Ah, there are scans of the 1922 publication out there:

Either would be an acceptable source to read from . . .

That's excellent - thanks for investigating. Does that mean I may go ahead and log it?

It does if you use the 1922 scans in the links above. Have fun! :D

On the edge of the primeval forest; experiences and observations of a doctor in equatorial Africa
by Schweitzer, Albert, 1875-1965

Publication date 1922

I gave up my position of professor in the University of Strasbourg, my literary work, and my organ-playing, in order to go as a doctor to Equatorial Africa. How did that come about?
