Le Avventure di Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie di Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898). Translated by Teodorico Pietrocola (1825-1883)

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/le-avventure-dalice-nel-paese-delle-meraviglie-by-lewis-carroll/
(Summary by Pier)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28371
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Nicole and welcome!

It would be great to have Alice in Wonderland in Italian!

But I see you are very new to this, so please please before you do anything else, do complete our 1-minute test and wait until it is approved. This is not an audition for you, but for your recording equipment, so we can help you make the best recordings possible with your settings.

Your welcome email has all you need to know about the 1-minute test.
Cheers, Ava.

Okay, as I am obviously not required to speak Italian here  I will set this up for you.

The translator appears to be this guy here, correct?
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teodorico_Pietrocola_Rossetti

Okay, everything set up and ready to go! A few things:

- There seems to be a poem in the very beginning of the book. I have added a section 0 for the poem if you want to read it. If not, I'll delete it. (I can't say whether it had been written by Lewis Carroll as well?)

- As this is a solo project, you are your own BC and responsible to keep your Magic Window up to date. Here is a "how to" on how to get a login and how to keep your MW shipshape:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ/edit?pli=1

- For an Italian project, you can say all the intros and outros in Italian. Also, I would be happy if you could give me a short summary in Italian - preferrably written by yourself and not copied from wikipedia, as we are linking to wikipedia anyway.

- I have changed the filename a little and deleted the part with the ID3 tags, for solos we don't need them anymore.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers, Ava.

Hi!

The translator is correct
I'm not planning to read the initial poem because in the original english version there's not such a poem so I'll start directly with the first chapter :)

Here's the summary written by me: "La giovane Alice, annoiata dalle lezioni della sorella maggiore, si addormenta e sogna di inseguire un coniglio bianco. Ancora non sa le mille avventure che affronterà in un mondo onirico fatto di paradossi e colpi di scena."

Thanks again for helping me :)

Bye!

Okay, I have added your summary and removed section 0, so you can start with the "real" book rightaway!

Please add titles to the Magic Window; I did the first 3 chapters as example. I think we should stay here for the weekend - maybe we'll find a DPL this way.

Have fun!

Hi Nicole, good start!
I hope we'll find a DPL soon!

I have added your file to the Magic Window. In future, as this is your solo, you will be responsible to do this. Here is a document that gives you all the details:

Let me know if you have questions.

Nicole, I have advertised for a DPL for you, I hope somebody will step forward soon!
In the meantime, you can keep recording, there is no need to wait for you.

Thanks a lot! I have a question: I need to post in this thread everytime I finish recording a new chapter or can I add it directly to the MW?

You can simply post that you have added a file, but please do post.
There is a way to receive notifications when somebody posts in a given thread, but there is no such notification when the MW is changed.

Also, if I as the MC notice no activity in the thread for a long time, I'll ask the reader what's going on - and I have no way to find out from the MW if you're still actively reading for your project.

Anyway: Have some nice holidays!
Cheers, Ava.

Sorry but I have a problem.. I need to edit the Magic Window from the Section Compiler screen as seen in the instructions but when I try to do it the system tells me that I have no permission. I first logged in from the worklow and changed the password but still I have no permission.. what can I do?

Can you simply logout - login and try again?
Sometimes, this problem occurs because you are still logged in with the generic uploader password.

Also, note that the workflow and the forum here are different systems, so you will need to setup a new password for the workflow. With this workflow password, you can also login to the uploader, by the way.
