For the benefit of Serjeant Kite, there will be a show tonight...

I'd like to give drunken Thomas Appletree a go (and I guess there's one sober line, if I can figure out how to pronounce wauns).

Oh, and all four lines of Steward as well, unless someone else is really keen on that role.

I've been looking for something to PL, so I'd be happy to check the assembled acts, if you'd like.

You are on your own for a good pronunciation of wauns. I can't figure it out!

I have experience reading the part of Stage Directions in one or two other plays and would be happy to continue further delving into the motivation and pathos of that character here.

By the way, if a stage direction seem not clear, please preface it with [name of character], [stage direction]. I may discard some of the character names in the editing depending on how clear everything comes out....

I found this:
"Wauns!" -- This is doubtless a concealed oath, being a dialect pronunciation of "Wounds!" for "God's wounds!" Compare the more common "Zounds!"

So I'm thinking it's something like "ones" (or more correctly "wƱnz") rather than rhymes-with-LA-supermarket-chain (Von's)...

Neat! So, by that definition, Zounds should be said more like zoons. And Gad Zooks! is more like God's Wounds! too.... I'd never have thought of that.

Interesting hobby this is what with all the side things that it pulls in to be more than just the readings.

Nicely done but:

Act 1
@ 1:10 - missing "—[Drum.]—" in Kite's first speech (we won't have any sound effects)
@ 1:35 - missing "—[Looking on his Watch.]" in Plume's first speech

Act 2
@ 2:29 - missing "—[Aside.]"
@ 4:17 - missing "Enter Kite."

Act 3
@ 0:29 - missing "Enter Kite."
@ 1:24 - missing "—[Aside.]"
@ 1:55 - line is "[Exeunt Kite and Bullock" - I hear "Kate"
@ 2:33 - missing "[Showing some Lace."

Act 4
@ 3:19 - line is "[Takes out a Paper, and folds it." - I hear "UNfolds it"

Act 5
@ 0:35 - missing "Enter Sylvia, Bullock, Rose, Prisoners, and Constable. "
@ 1:07 - missing "Enter Constable. "
@ 1:58 - missing "Enter a Servant. "
@ 4:25 - missing "[Gives his Book.]"

Thanks, Todd

Well, at least I'm consistent. I consistently missed SOMETHING in every Act!

Thanks. Guess the pathos of those lines was just too overwhelming for the stage direction character! I will check them out again.

Seriously Todd, I had a lot of trouble with those "asides". They seem to come after the text which is spoken aside, so how do you inflect that? But then, there's only two syllables, so it's difficult to pour much meaning into them.
