I don't really think that's it. After all, these parts are actually quite short. Heck, I was able to upload them using the modem rather than having to haul them into work to use the high speed line as I do with most book chapters.

These roles are really a lot of fun to read out loud. Bill the Bard had a wonderful way with language and they are written to be perfomed dramatically. It's quite a rush to read these things.

But real life has a tendency to intrude. This is why it often takes months to get a book from idea to catalogue. Folks have only just so much time...

It is a bit daunting to look through that whole play to find the lines for one character. I was so afraid I'd miss some, even with a "find". You might get more volunteers if you copy and paste the parts into individual text files... But then there's no context. So, what do I know :)

We probably just need patience. One of these days a new volunteer will come along and be overjoyed that there's still a part left for him.

Don't forget to mark my parts "complete" :)

That's a very good point, johngon. One of the odd bits of social dynamics around here is watching that list on the front page fill up. When people sign up for something, mark their names next to it in that first post. When they submit the files, mark them complete.

As people see them fill up, the "bandwagon effect" will take over and you'll have people jumping right on. I'm happy that you liked my Gaunt, but you really need to add my name next to the role on that first message and note that it too is complete. It creates a sense of immediacy - particularly useful for getting people who've signed up for roles to actually submit their files!

I think this is a great project! It just needs a little tending to keep it in the forefront of people's minds when they're looking for something new. A little chattering in this forum doesn't hurt anything either... ;)

I might be able to do some...

You can hear my voice on some of the short poetry collections and on the G. K. Chesterton Orthodoxy (going solo) files.

Give me some ideas and I will see what I can do.

Thanks!

Great project! Definitely a winner. I was just telling a friend it would be great to do something like that, in exactly this fashion...

I have a question, though: what is your deadline for this project? (never mind: March 31st. lol!)

While I am rather busy with school for the next little bit, but I am going to try and open up my schedule to get the recordings done. I'll have a look at the characters again and see what might be feasible for me. (I would love to do Prince Hal in Henry IV, part 1, but that's getting ahead a little bit.)

In any event, I'll be lurking in the background and as soon as I know if I can hack it, I'll let you know.

Actually, I am doing advance casting as well. We already have a Richard III and Lady Anne. Myself, I'll probably do Chorus in Henry V... so Hal is open right now. Remember Hal is going to be a huge part - in Henry IV, parts 1-2, Henry V.

Just post here if you'd like to take it on...

We are still trying to get readers for this - including Richard II and Bolingbroke.

Please post here if interested.

I'd like to do Bolingbroke. Can I listen to some of the other parts that I am responding to?

To be honest, I think it works well to NOT hear what others are doing. It makes it easier to focus on how you think it should sound. But if you think it would be helpful, here are mine:

Very cool, Annie! I can't wait to get to work so I can download them and hear the narration standing alone. It was certainly bizarre reading only a single part!

Yeah, if you thought a single part was bizarre wait till you hear this stuff!

I've pulled these down and will archive them - but we STILL need people to step forward and claim some of the larger roles. It'd be a shame to not be able to do the project - but without a lot of men stepping forward (i.e. at least 5-7) I don't see how this can move forward...

Guess I'm just feeling a little down... I'll do read some Wilde to cheer my up... Dorian Grey - just the thing. :)

When we were first talking about this project, didn't you mention that you were a part of a theater troupe and had already rounded up folks for the major roles? That's the reason I didn't sign up for one of them; heck, we're better off letting someone who actually knows what he's doing take the role of Richard rather than someone like me.

Enjoy your Wilde night! ;)
