Number of Amazon book reviews (or reviewers)

Everything except LibriVox (yes, this is where knitting gets discussed. Now includes non-LV Volunteers Wanted projects)

Does anyone have any ideas for figuring out the number of book reviews or reviewers on Amazon? This is for a biz plan of mine. Not critical, but would be nice.

if the info is available, why not do a random sample of 50 books - just count up number of reviews/reviewers.

then you have your multiple of avg. reviews per book/avg reviewers and multiply by Amazon's catalog.

You could refine by saying: avg reviews for best sellers. avg reviews for ... etc.

Hmmm... you could write a script... in Visual Basic, for instance... but it's a LOT of work. If it's not critical, I wouldn't do it.

Have you tried just asking amazon? Their PR department might be proud to give out that kind of info.

I tried to get them to answer me for a January 30th deadline on another matter--an article I'm writing--and they never got back to me. So I'm not too hopeful about trying again. But it's not that big a deal. The answer isn't that important.

Wow, that's brilliant, JE!

Isn't that the number of reviewers rather than reviews, however?

Very clever. Thank you!!!

By golly, you're right. I did say reviews or reviewers. Actually, reviewers is better for my purposes.

Thank you so much again!!!!!
