Kara - this was never in the instructions for readers in previous poems so it must be that you or whoever was cataloging was adding them in. When I took over cataloging weekly poetry, no one told me to add the initials which is why they haven't been there the last few weeks.

I disagree. Weekly poetry is different from other projects. The point of it is to show how one poem can be read, interpreted, and expressed in a variety of ways. Adding the reader's initials shows off the diversity which is the goal of weekly poetry. The title will remain the same but the added initials point out that each recording is unique.

I don't think the intent is only to make them unique in Internet Archive, but also in mp3 players. I know that if I have a weekly poetry project on my iPod, I'd like to be able to browse through the titles and pick different readers without having to play each one to find out that information.

I think we need something that identifies the reader in the title. I agree that initials alone could be cryptic. I like your suggestion Peter. How about we make this the standard: "[Poem Title] - read by [initials]" for the ID3 title tag? For instance, mine for this week would be: "The Owl and the Pussycat - read by apc". Can everyone live with this?

No. We have very little control over how Archive.org displays our information.

yeah, sorry about that, my fault :) Hugh and I decided to add initials wayyy back when it was pretty much just a couple of us running things, and i spaced out on clarifying it to the second wave of organizers. I like your "poem title - read by [initials]" idea! That's nice and clear and will make it easy to identify one poem from another on one's iPod or whatever. Let's do that :)

This is a little fast, probably because it's an old friend... but when I heard it as a child, I'm sure the "his nose"s etc were only repeated once - I had to check against another source before I was sure that the version here wasn't wrong! Anyway, thanks for this selection, it's got me re-reading all kinds of similar silliness!
