Me too - I am embarrassed to say that it was when I saw Hair! in the early sixties that I realised how good it was

Martin,

I just listened to the reading from Merchant of Venice and it sounds wonderful. I like the abbreviated introduction for these short readings too, good call on that!

Website appears to be up and running just fine! If you can store the files there, there is no need to send them to me individually. When I upload them to catalog, I can just enter the URLs.

You do have a wonderful reading voice, very well suited to Shakespeare.

One thing I just thought of is that if you want these readings to go in a particular order, we'll need to add track numbers. Otherwise they will order themselves alphabetically by filename. It's totally up to you. If you'd prefer, you can wait until you are finished with them all, then decide what order you want them in, send me the list and I can easily add the track numbers when I'm cataloging.

Thank you for your kind words - I am not entirely happy with the quality, but I could indulge in displacement activity trying to get it right for ever so I will stop fiddling and get on with the recording!

I have finished twenty readings, which is about all I had in mind, and have put them up on the site.

I do not think that the order matters, perhaps if they are simply kept in play order. I think that there may be two with the same tag i.e. from the same scene in the same play, but their titles will distinguish them.

Good luck with the organisation - I go away on Saturday 4th Feb but will be back on about the 16th Feb

I'm really looking forward to taking the time to listening to these. This is such a great and personalized idea. It adds an aspect of creation to Librivox, rather than reiterating what's already there (if that makes any sense).

Great, Martin, I'll get started on this soon. They'll organize themselves alphabetically by filename. After I have them in the validator, I'll let you know what order it put them in and you can give it the okay or let me know if you want things moved.

I agree, Kri, this is such a great idea, I think I'm going to do my own anthology of favorite poems!

Could you write up a small summary for the catalog? Just the idea behind what you did and how you chose your selections would be great.

I've made some adjustments to the title ID3 tags so they are in this format: As You Like It (Act 2, Scene 7) : All the World's a Stage

Does that look okay to you?

Also, do you want your URL on the catalog page?

Here is a draft of the catalog page. Let me know if you're happy with the order of the selections and the way the titles are written, if not I can change them. Besides that, all I need to know are if you want your URL listed and a description and we'll be all done!

The catalog page is excellent (that was quick) - it makes me want to listen myself!

May I suggest the following as a description:

This personal anthology is my choice of speeches from Shakespeare that I enjoy reading (that I would like to have had by heart years ago!) and that seem to me to illustrate his unsurpassed use of language. He was a man who seemed to know everything about human nature and as Orson Welles said 'he speaks to everyone and we all claim him'. I know that it has been said that 'it is impossible to be a great Shakespearian actor without an idiosyncratic and extraordinary voice' and this may be so, but that does not preclude ordinary mortals from reading, hearing and enjoying Shakespeare.

Hope that is ok if not I can soon change it.

Probably better not to use my URL at present as I am thinking of changing it now I have need of somewhere to put my readings.
