It's that time of year again... and the anniversary of LibriVox approaches.

I'd like it to be a veritable pot pourri of "LibriVox People". Suggestions for your contributions include:
  • Tell us about your last nine years!
  • How do you introduce LibriVox when you talk about it with people in real life?
  • Which LibriVox books do you recommend to new listeners, and why?
  • How do you decide what to record? Where do you look?
  • What do you plan to do at LibriVox in the next 9 years?
Pick one, because you are limited to TWO MINUTES! It's amazing what you can say in two minutes ;).

Please name your file 9podcast_[yourinitials].mp3 and upload to my (RuthieG) folder by August 3rd, please!

There is still the possibility of an anniversary song to be included in the podcast... watch this space!

This is looking a little barren. I have only one (very good) contribution so far and I can't waffle on for half an hour myself :? .

OK, if you're that desperate, then even my not-exactly-riveting wafflings might be some relief -- see what I can come up with in a day or two --

I am fairly desperate, I assure you. Although, of course, there may be dozens of people who intend to contribute but just haven't got 'a round twit' yet.

I didn't realize Aug 3 is so close  I promised you a podcast contribution and I'll deliver it. I guess it will be something about "How do you decide what to record? Where do you look?".

Hi Ruth,

I've never recorded a podcast before, but I'll give this a try. Are there any differences (technical, LV disclaimer, etc.) from recording a section (except that it's my own words :)).

Thanks,
Don

Go for it, Don! No technical difference. Really no need for a disclaimer, either :).

Hi, Ruth--I've uploaded a submission for the podcast to your folder. Please edit as you like, use only a sentence or whatever bit that you want. Or don't use it at all if not what you were looking for (it kind of morphed into a sales pitch  )--no problem. I've not contributed to a podcast before, so not entirely sure about it.

Thanks for putting this together! :)
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Thanks, Lucretia. It's always good to have some new voices on the podcast. Don't worry about inexperience in podcasts - I'm hosting the thing and am still utterly clueless .

Well, for whatever it's worth, here's a bit on "Where do I find items to record?"
(It's a tad over the 2-minute limit, as I was rambling without a written script. You may freely cut out any or all of it.)

Ruth,

If you would like to try something different, maybe we could chat? See if you think anything in the attached file is workable . . . at some point you need to ask me how I find projects to read, and then you need to throw in a bit here and there to make it dialog-y

I can do it again on any subject you would like . . . or respond to your dialog . . .

Or if it doesn't work or isn't worth the time, then I'll just record my 2 minutes on whatever subject you need something on in order to make the podcast flow . . . just let me know . . .

Hehehehe, this is immense fun. I can almost hear myself speaking, but I have no idea what I am saying . I particularly like "Your question is?" I spilled my tea.

I just saw this. If I find time I might do something. I have no idea what though.

Hi Ruth,

So I took the plunge and just submitted an entry for the podcast. :)

I hope it's what you're looking for and that you can use it.

It was fun! Thanks,
Don
