That repeat was actually in the text. The witness being quoted at that point said -- "We was still trying to get people on the boat and trying to calm them down enough to -- trying to calm them down enough to get everybody on the boat." Do you think I should eliminate that repeat, since listeners probably won't be following along on the transcript and might suppose it was a mistake in the recording?

I was wondering if it was in there that way. I should have checked. :) Leave it in. Thanks!

I've claimed, recorded, and uploaded section 13. Since I'm DPL, I'd appreciate it if someone else would PL it for me. :)

Do you need anyone to jump in on this?

I saw this project when it was first posted and had a strong urge to claim the whole thing. Haha. I've worked in the field of seismic exploration for oil, developing mathematics and algorithms for acoustic imaging, so this topic is of more than a little interest. But I was and am still occupied with Frank and Jesse James. I am nearing the end of that project, so I looked around and see that this project seems to need volunteers.

What's available?

Interesting!

What's available is everything marked Open in the Magic Window. :) Would you want to take on the "Response and Containment" sections - 14-17? After those are in, you could claim more if you like.

So, starting at Chapter 5, page 129 of the report?

Are we just skipping footnotes, as though they weren't there?

Right - starting at page 129. The page numbers and where to start/stop each section are in the notes in the MW.

Regarding footnotes: if you find them interesting and "worth" putting into the audio, then do so. If they aren't all that interesting, then don't bother. Reader's choice. :)

So are you officially claiming 14-17? :)

Welcome, Mary!

Your test is A-OK!

How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname or forum name, some their real name) and a personal web site or blog, if you have one. CLICK HERE for an example of what I'm talking about. I recommend using whatever name you say (if any) when you say, "recorded by [your name]" as that's how listeners will look for you. (Keep in mind that prospective employers, classmates, etc. can also find you using the catalog name, so be cautious if privacy might be an issue.)

No need to apologize! You answered within 24 hours, which is plenty fast. :)

Here's your reader page: https://librivox.org/reader/9323

You can get to it by clicking on your name in the Magic Window (best to right click and open it in a new window/tab, otherwise it opens in the Magic Window itself). Clicking on the Reader Section Details link will take you to a page that shows what sections you've claimed, what need edits, etc. It's a great page to keep track of your claims. :)
