Welcome to LibriVox! Thanks, I've signed you up for section 16/chapter 11. However please don't record until you have read the following information and submitted a 1 - minute test(see below) and got the ok to proceed with recording. I also need to know how you would like your name to appear in the catalogue. This can be your real name, your forum name or a pseudonym thanks.louisajulius wrote:Hello!

If you wish to try your hand at recording, the place to start is the Newbie Guide to Recording: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording, which tells you how to set up your computer to record.
Please make sure you complete the "1 Minute Test" for review before you start actively recording any chapters for projects. This is NOT an audition, but a way to check to make sure all your technical settings are correct, your volume loud enough, etc. You will find the information for the 1-Minute Test Recording here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test. The instructions also tell you how to upload your test and then post in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum so someone can give you feedback on it.
You may like to introduce yourself to the community in the "introduce yourself" forum: http://forum.librivox.org/viewforum.php?f=17
An overview of how Librivox works can be found here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/How_LibriVox_Works
There are numerous ways to volunteer here. An important one is proof-listening, which consists of checking someone's recording for errors. If you'd like to give that a try, you can find lots of information here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Guide_for_Proof-listeners
One of our volunteers has created a number of videos that you might find helpful to learn more about the workings of Librivox. You can find a listing of those here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/User:Philchenevert
Also to point out to professional (or aspiring) Voice Over artists, all our recordings are put back into the public domain which means sometimes they are sold on ebay, etc. Have a look at this page which describes our Public Domain policy: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Copyright_and_Public_Domain
We hope you have fun and please, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.[/quote]

Hey there. I'd like to lay claim to sections 8 and 9 if I could.
It looks as though this book contains many foreign book titles, but the project is also very close to completion. So, I'll go ahead and give it a try along with my good friend, Google Translate.

Hi I will sign you up to that section. However please do not record until you have been given the OK for your 1-minute test. It is a long section to record to then find that it now usable due to technical problems.mimiphantomofliberty wrote:is section 13 still up for grabs? if it is i'll take it.

i sent a few recordings i made over to my cousin in quebec. she says that my french is "barely passable". i've tried the librivox pronunciation guides and a couple of her suggestions but i don't feel it's gotten much better. i was confident in my recording until she said that- i know my latin was pretty good in highschool so that part was fine. i'm embarrassed and sorry to set you back but perhaps i shouldn't read this section if my french is so unrecognizable.

Hi it is up to you. No one is judged on their pronunciation on here. Only you can decide if you are happy with your contribution. When we PL files we are checking the technical aspects and looking for omissions, repeats and stumbles. If you wish to be taken off that section let me know. There are other ones you can sign up to. Either way I am happy to go with your decision. i'm sure there a lot of people in the librivox forum who are better at french and i'd rather not hand in something i'm not very proud of, so i'm sorry, but i guess i'd like to be taken off from the section. good luck with the rest of the bookwib66 wrote:Hi it is up to you.
