The poems have been checked against the archives. Other than the 1 misspelling in the Title of poem in Section 4, which name should have been “Amarantha”, I find the rest of text reliable in content and no other Discrepancy has been found. As the Poet’s Corner on Gutenberg IS THE SOURCE TEXT for this group of poetry, and is an approved text source in general from LibriVox, please read only from that stated source. Thank you.
NOTE: Errors in spelling (including in the archives, even initially by the author can happen.) Gutenberg has PL’s that at times have to do those corrections. If in doubt, one can always compare.

Thanks, Dean! A great set of readings to add to the collection! Just one fix needed, for section 11:

Section 11 needs a little less silence at the beginning. Should be between 0.5 and 1 second, where I hear just over 3.

Sections 22 and 30 are PL OK!
Both had a little over a second at the beginning, so bear that in mind for next time. I particularly like the timing and pauses in your reading of section 22, which made this poem much easier to follow than otherwise!
I'll be out for a bit on this last weekend of April, but still checking in as I get the chance. I will try to follow up on Monday, with anything I can't do on the go.

Thanks, Mark! You read these all very well and they'll make a great addition! No re-takes needed, but I'm afraid I've got some editing work for you.

In each section, you've read a longer introduction than we needed - can I have you remove this bit from each one?
All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org.
I'll also have to bug you a bit about silences, since we try to keep those uniform. I find that recording more silence than needed at the beginning and end, and then zooming in and cutting out the extra first thing when I start editing, is easiest for me both to do and to remember to do.

Section 27
Opening silence is 1.3 seconds, should be between 0.5 and 1 seconds.
One particular line is a fair bit louder than the rest, could you use Amplify at, say, -5db on this line starting at 0:24?
Strive not, vain lover, to be fine
Section 28
Closing silence is a little long, 5.5s, should be just about 5.

Section 29
Opening silence is 1.3s
Closing silence is short, just under 4 seconds, should be 5.
I'll be out for a bit on this last weekend of April, but still checking in as I get the chance. I will try to follow up on Monday, with anything I can't do on the go.

Hi Laurie
All text sources need to be treated with some caution as typesetting was very error prone in past centuries. For the Astrophil and Stella poems there were several old scans available on Archive and they could not even agree on the spelling of Astrophil or Astrophel :help:

Thanks, Alan, but after she took the trouble already to cross-check all the rest of the text against the Archive.org scan, what further level of caution are you advising, here?

It's probably good to be reminded now and then that even our best sources are fallible (as I'm sure we've all seen!), but LV policies themselves allow for the introduction of many new errors!
It seems a bit much to check multiple alternate sources, unless there's some confusion, for anything but word-perfect PL. Is there something else you're suggesting, that I'm not picking up on?

That'll do it, PL OK!

Opening silence is still a little long at 1.1s, where again the LibriVox standard is 0.5 to 1.0 seconds. This one will pass, but it's best to be in the habit!
It's tough to cut at that level of precision at the default zoom level, so I hold the Ctrl key and scroll up on the mouse wheel to zoom in quickly.

Mark,
I'd queued these for PL, but had a quick peek at this one, and I still hear the extra phrase in the intro. I'm guessing by duration that the others also have it. Sorry for not mentioning this within the notes for each section, but it needs done on all of them.

Can you please remove this phrase from each of your three sections?
"All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org."

For reference, the only intro phrase you'd need is:
"Section #, Title of poem" by Richard Lovelace. [Optional: Read for LibriVox.org by "your name"] ...and then you start the poem.
I'll be out for a bit on this last weekend of April, but still checking in as I get the chance. I will try to follow up on Monday, with anything I can't do on the go.
