Thanks! I would rather start by reading if that's OK? In the meantime I've put my name down for Tom Brown in Oxford. Thanks so much for getting back to me.

One minute testMozartjr wrote: ↑November 5th, 2022, 6:38 pmSure! I can put you in for that here! If you would still like to be a part of the project, you can always be our Proof-Listener If you are interested, I can give you a link with the necessary info about that.Christo2016 wrote: ↑November 5th, 2022, 2:50 pm
Thank you! I'm ready to upload my one-minute test but I see that I'm too late for this particular project. Regarding my catalog name, can it just be the same as the name I already have - i.e. Christo2016. Will that be OK? Do I need to go and register it somewhere? Thanks!

Hi Christo2016! I run a check on your sample recording.Christo2016 wrote: ↑November 6th, 2022, 4:02 pm One minute test

The files need to have specific technical specifications so that they are processed correctly when a project is catalogued and made available to the public. The ones that need adjusting in your setup are:
bit-rate: constant 128 kbps - it's currently 192kbps
mono sound (single track) - it's currently stereo (double track)
volume around 89decibel - it's currently around 99dB with "clipping" (that's when the volume is too high for the system to process which results in sound information loss - the sound is "clipped")
filenames must be all lower-case, including the extension .mp3
Something to be aware of: there is noise at the beginning of the poem, and at the end. It sounds like microphone movement, or movement close to the microphone, that the microphone picks up. Maybe it can be avoided.
Please tell me a bit about your recording setup, hardware/microphone/software you are using, and maybe I can help you with the settings, or point you to where you can get help.

Hi Rapunzelina,
Thanks so much for your help! I am using a Sony IC Recorder. The model number is ICD-PX333/PX333F. Does this help?

Rapunzelina - was I supposed to put the Sony recording that I made through Audacity first? Thanks!

Can you set your Sony recorder to export to the above settings? 128kbps, and mono instead of stereo.
And maybe decrease the input volume a bit to avoid the clipping.
Thanks!

It's not mandatory, but you'll probably need to go through Audacity for editing, or do you have other software for that? If you go through Audacity, you'll be able to adjust those settings there.Christo2016 wrote: ↑November 7th, 2022, 2:27 pm Rapunzelina - was I supposed to put the Sony recording that I made through Audacity first? Hello,
No, not at all. It is still on my list of projects, but I just haven't gotten the time yet to edit in the music to the uploaded sections yet. Stay tuned! I am waiting for my other readers to submit their sections as well...

Hi Rapunzelina - I struggled to make sense of carrying out your instructions on my Sony Voice Recorder. But in the meantime I decided to do a recording straight onto Audacity and upload it. I did that just now. The file name is grecian_urn_keats. I hope you can listen to this one-minute test and see if it's maybe better than the other one. I'm really sorry this is taking me so long. Everything is just so new and I can see that I have tons to learn still. Thanks so much for your patience!
