Thanks, Casey
I'm proof listening a book and I wondered if you knew of a way to load the recording that's in the magic window into Audacity.

I'm not Casey, but I have DPLed for several other books, so perhaps you wouldn't mind my perspective as well.

Listening in Audacity is a great idea! It's how I do my proof listening, in fact. Right-click on the link for the section you are about to PL and then click "Save link as..." Save it on your computer wherever you want. I put them on my desktop because it's easy to delete them afterwards. Then you can open that file from your computer in Audacity, either by going in to Audacity and then doing File>Import>Audio, or by right-clicking the file on your desktop (or wherever you have put it) and selecting Open with>Audacity. (Depending on the settings of your computer, you may be able to just double-click the file after you download it for it to open in Audacity.)

I'm very glad you had an answer to this because I definitely did not, haha!

Thank you CaseyAllena for those helpful notes.

I am done revising!

* The noise reduction was magic.
* I eliminted the silence at 8:20
* I tried to lower the volume just a tad on the outro.
* Took out the redundant "Chapter 56" in the intro

Let me know if it's good to go!

I finished my chapter (56).

https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/roughshaking_56_macdonald_128kb.mp3

First, it "passed with warnings" on the Checker: I got the same Volume warning as I got before on my 1-minute test.

I tried amplifying just a tiny bit and it passed! The volume on the first 6 minutes is a bit quieter because I moved the mic! But it's not super noticable I hope.

Let me know how it all turned out. Open to any feedback. Thanks!
Hi Keith!
The volume sounds all good to me. If it changes 6 minutes in, it's definitely not a significant change because I didn't notice, haha! That being said, there are a few other things that could be mended:
- There's quite a bit of white noise in the background that needs to be eliminated (I've attached a brief tutorial below in case you've never done this).
- To keep all of our intros uniform, please only say the chapter number once in the intro, per the script on the project page. So to be perfectly clear, for this chapter say, "Chapter 56 of A Rough Shaking...A Rough Shaking, by George MacDonald. Strategy."
- There's a gap of silence from 8:20-23.
- And though the overall volume is fine, it gets significantly louder in the last ten-ish seconds (the whole of your outro).
Thank you!

I must have missed this notification last week. Sorry for the delay, but do you have an updated duration for this file since some silence was deleted? ~ Thanks!

Thank you so much, Keith! This is *almost* perfect...The only issue is those last ten seconds you re-recorded now have a ton of background noise. Could you try reducing the background noise in that section? Or if you can't get that to work, maybe try re-recording those few seconds in a quieter environment?

Chapter 49 sounds great, Dick! Could you change it to constant bit rate of 128 kbps, though?
