Thanks,

There's a missed edit in this chapter as well. At ~17:49, I hear, "He tried to butt the doors down but they were of solid, heavy oak" twice. You repeated the line because someone in the background slammed a door - how appropriate.

It's almost hard to believe Billy can cause so much trouble everywhere he goes. LOL.

The chapter is See PL Notes for now.
I feel like I should just butt myself when I miss something like that. Here is the edited file.

Welcome to LibriVox. I have a few fixes for you to do.
At ~28 seconds - right after the introduction - you missed the opening phrase "Billy trotted contentedly on" - what's left isn't a complete sentence. That opening phrase should be edited in.
At ~1:47 I hear "...such insults as that, Billy trotted even though..." Consulting the Gutenberg text I see the words "Billy trotted" don't belong here and should be edited out; what you end up with should read "...such insults as that, even though..."
The great majority of the story is all OK. You picked a nice chapter to read; Billy creates all sorts of trouble, but the porter doesn't want to take any blame, so Billy gets away with it unsuspected.
The silence at the end should be a full five seconds (you have 4). You should edit a second of silence onto the end.
Please make these changes and upload the chapter again. Please include the duration of the chapter when you post your note saying the fixed chapter is in place.

For future recordings:
You have a few spots in the chapter where the audio level reaches the maximum - ~1:58 "Great" - ~2:00 "Crash" - 3:32 "Right After" - ~16:13 "High" - ~16:38 "loud Baaaa" - ~17:12 "Everybody". This is clipping which can sound bad and should be avoided. Hint: if you are using Audacity you can adjust a setting to show places in your recording where there is clipping. In the View menu there is a "Show Clipping (on/off)" option - in my version of Audacity it then highlights places where clipping takes place with a vivid red line. You might have to read up a bit on compression so you can reduce the loudest peaks in your recording while leaving the majority of the recording unchanged. Phil Chenevert made a YouTube tutorial on compression - see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c - it's kind of old now, but the concepts are unchanged.

And finally, just so you know, the overall audio level for the chapter is 89.1 dB - in the middle of the LibriVox range. Keep doing this.

This should fix the problems. 19:17 is the duration I believe.
sorry, I missed some obvious mistakes, I should've given it another proofread before I sent it, adding all the tracks together must've messed with it.
Thank you for your help! Let me know if there is anything else.

Chapter 9 - Alone in an Ocean Storm - PL OK, thank you.

Note however - at ~9:06 at "I'll try some of them myself", "I'll" and "my" sound distorted / harsh. This is clipping; most likely your loudest syllables reached the digital limit as you were recording. To avoid this in future recordings you may want to adjust your record level a bit lower so even the loudest things you say never get to the max. Some time during your edit process you'll find you need to add a bit of amplification to get your chapter volume in the LibriVox range (as measured with Checker or ReplayGain) - but not reach the clipping level. I'm hearing little bits of the distortion here and there for the next minute or so. No fix is needed in this chapter but it's something to be aware of in future.

Three things need to be fixed
1) The opening silence should be only be somewhere between 1/2 second and one second (most readers go for half a second). Your opening silence about 1.4 seconds. You should edit some of that away.
2) The silence at the end should be at least 5 but no longer than 10 seconds (most readers go for 5 seconds, and that's what is recommended). Your ending silence is a trace less than 2 seconds long. You should add extra silence - or preferably room tone (the miscellaneous rumbles your microphone picks up when you aren't speaking).
3) You should only read your name at the beginning or the end. You should remove one of those 'read by's - your choice.

Your recording between these items is just fine, so when you fix up the beginning and end and upload the chapter again everything should be peachy.
The chapter is marked See PL notes for now.

The edited Chapter 7 - Billy Finds His Mother - is now PL OK, thanks!

The program 'Checker' complains mildly about background noise. One thing I notice is quite a bit of low frequency - around 75 Hz - sound so the recording could benefit from some gentle high pass filtering. It's important to note that I'm seeing this background noise in the waveform but not hearing it in the playback - not with my headphones anyway. Also, I would much rather listen to a small amount of background noise than the weird sounds you can get when trying too hard with noise reduction filters.
