Personally I would be sceptical about the actual numbers. They seem more like myth than history. For one thing they are too conveniently round numbers, and who was counting the bodies

thank you, lovely recording, just had a listen to it. What a sweet story full of hope and good vibes. We need more of those. I already enjoy these tales of the borders, and am happy that there will be more in the other Rover magazines.

There are only 3 repeats where you need to cut out one of the versions:
