Also, please note the correct file naming protocol as outlined in the first post.

Don’t worry about it for now. See if you have edits to make. But the file name cannot have capital letters (the system will crash) and you did not include the section number. Misnaming a file is like having a loose paper at the bottom of the filing cabinet and not knowing which folder it belongs inCymo wrote: ↑October 5th, 2021, 11:23 amI have been trying to upload the file after renaming and it is not workingLynnet wrote: ↑October 5th, 2021, 9:41 amThank you.Cymo wrote: ↑October 5th, 2021, 8:28 am Hello, I have completed The Yarn of Old Harbour Town by William Clark Russell chapter 12. Hi Cymo, Great handling of a chapter that has the most slang and accents in the whole book!Cymo wrote: ↑October 6th, 2021, 12:39 amThank you I did not how to name the file appropriately. Here are the notes for Chapter 12:
File Name needs correcting - see first page of this project which tells you how to name the file. You can copy and paste from there but put in 12 instead of ##.
bit rate in Audacity needs to be 128 kbps and constant instead of variable. I would google how to correct this or look in "Newbie Guide to Recording" link which is on the first page of this project. Lynnet may chime in here with suggestions as well.
The Db level needs to be within 89-91. I can help with this after you correct the file name and reupload.
at:00 Redo the intro in accordance with the instructions on the first page of this project.
at 3:32 remove repeated words. Here are two links to you tube instructional videos on how to edit in Audacity: 1)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9NuSuWYaWg&ab_channel=PhilChenevert 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzJ2VyYkmaA&ab_channel=KevinStratvert
at 3:32- 3:43 remove repeated words
at 17:59- 18:09 remover repeated words
20:41 shorten silence
21:32 -21:59 remove repeated words
22:18 -22:20 remove repeated words
23:13 -23:26 shorten silence
25:30 - 25:41 shorten silence
25:51 remove repeat
26:54 remove repeat
27:22 -27:27 shorten silence
28:39 remove verbal stumble
29:53 -29:57 shorten silence
36:03 - 36:11 shorten silence
37:05 add 5 seconds of silence at the end
Although this seems lengthy, once you get used to editing after watching the videos, it is an easy matter to remove those few repeated words and shorten up the silences a little.
Thank you for your efforts in bringing this book to audio!

Fixing the bit rate is simple if you are using Audacity…
When you have corrected the errors and the file name, select “export file”. At the bottom of the dialog box, make sure 128kbps and constant are selected, then export. These setting should remain the same unless you change them, or do something like reinstall Windows.
If you are ever stuck on any of our processes, remember we have a wiki which covers just about everything (see above under where it says Librivox Forum for the Guide for Listeners and Volunteers). There are some very handy videos, but, of course, the one on bit rate was unavailable
