Hey Guys!

I made the suggested edits for section 42 "Forsaken". Here's the updated version.

Hi everybody. Looks like I got unsubscribed from my own project! Thanks to our MC for alerting me to this. I'll catch the MW up tonight, and PL tomorrow.

Hi, Lector. Your file still has too much background noise. Please get a Noise Profile from the last 4 seconds of your file (not counting the pop at the end), select the whole file and go Effects/Noise Reduction 12/6/3 Reduce. That will bring it down within range so it passes Checker.

PL Notes 2, 3, 29
On all 3 poems (per instructions in First Post):
Reduce 5 seconds of silence at the front end down to 1 second
Reduce ending silence to 5 seconds.

Notes for 2
1:38 Sing to him, say to him, here at his gate. you say "this" gate, (I presume him is God? and yonder sky is his gate?) Where the boughs of the stately elms are meeting." boughs rhymes with brows, you say bows.
1:56 The surest pledge of a deathless name, you say seerest?

PL Notes Section 20

Checker warns of excessive background noise and recommends a noise cleaning. To do this in Audacity, select about 4 seconds of silence from the end of your file, go Effects/Noise Reduction/Get Noise Profile. Then select the entire file, go Effect/Noise Reduction/set settings to 12, 6, 3, Reduce/OK. This should cut down the hissy background noise by about half, without affecting your voice quality, which is very good. NOTE: Different people use different settings, so feel free to experiment, and beware that if you do additional passes it might begin to affect the quality.

While you are at it, your volume at 86.2, is at the very low end of LV's acceptable range. Before noise cleaning above, I'd grab the whole file and go Effects/Amplify +3. And before you record anything else, adjust volume or gain on your mike or Audacity volume slider.

Make these adjustments, reupload your file using the same file name, post it here and I'll check it again.

Michele -

Here's section 12 -

https://librivox.org/uploads/kazbek/keramosandotherpoems_12_longfellow_128kb.mp3
Track length: 0:59

Note the typo in the poem title in the MW - should be King instead of Kink.

12 is PL OK
Thanks for watching my back, Phil! :9:

I really love the way Longfellow unpacks meaning from simple things:

"Thus by aspirations lifted,
By misgivings downward driven,
Human hearts are tossed and drifted
Midway between earth and heaven."
