Thank you! Content was great!
Volume needs adjustment:
0:00-2:35 - volume a bit too high. De-amplify this by about 3 dB.
2:35 to end: volume too low. Amplify this by 18 dB or as much as you can. (I could do a little over 16 when I imported it into Audacity and tried it.)
The story about the morphine addict sounds way too much like the opioid crisis of today.

Second try. . . I ran it through the checker and it said it passed, so fingers crossed!

Yeah, Checker isn't great for measuring changes of volume. It goes by the average.
This one, the wave forms look a little more funky. Now your first part is a bit too quiet (about 4 dB), middle part 2:35-15:52 or so is too loud (about 3 dB), and the rest is too quiet (17 dB).
If you zoom all the way out, you can see how the different sections' wave forms are so different:
Since I am not in the same room with you, of course I can't see what went wrong.
If you like, I'd be happy to adjust the first recording you sent, to make the levels more even. Or do you want to try it again?

Ugh. I figured out that my son had changed some settings in Audacity and on the interface and so that is probably my major problem. If you can make the necessary adjustments, that would be great. Otherwise, let me know and I will probably just fix the settings and re-record - so no worries if it can't be adjusted to the correct parameters.

I just noticed that second recording was twice as long as the original.
I've fixed your original file, so we're good now.

Thank you! I am going to review my entire recording procedure and settings this weekend and figure out what I'm doing wrong! I promise the next 2 sections will be problem free! The author seems very forward thinking and it is an interesting read : )

Please do the 1-minute test first, to be sure your tech settings (volume, bit rate, etc.) are all correct.
How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname or forum name, some their real name) and a link to a personal web site or blog, if you have one. I recommend using whatever name you say (if any) when you say, "recorded by [your name]" as that's how listeners will look for you. (Keep in mind that prospective employers, classmates, enemies, etc. can also find you using the catalog name, so be cautious if privacy might be an issue.)

Thanks for that! I've submitted my 1-minute test, still waiting for someone to listen to it, haha.
I would like to use my own name "Julie Yu" in the catalog. BTW, where can I see this catalog? I'm still finding my way around the forum and the various processes, haha.
Cheers
Julie
