This reminds me of when we had a baby rabbit growing up in our front yard. It got so it wouldn't run away from us - but then we never went after it either. We, and others in the neighborhood, just enjoyed watching it get bigger and bigger.

These sound likes edits you may have inserted, There is seldom a perfect match, but it does help to try to match the volume. Also, it is always better to record an entire sentence of phrase where the is a natural break than to insert a word or two. This gives the reading a more natural sound and it is easier to adjust the volume to blend it in.
