The Second Part of King Henry IV (version 2), by William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/second-part-king-henry-iv-version-2-by-william-shakespeare/
This sequel and third entry of the <i>Henriad</i> immediately follows the events of <a href=”https://librivox.org/first-part-king-henry-iv-version-2-by-william-shakespeare/”><i>Henry IV, Part 1</i></a> and the aftermath of the Battle of Shrewsbury, which saw the Percys’ rebellion against the King quashed and its leader, Hotspur, killed in combat with the Prince of Wales. Upon hearing of Hotspur’s death, his father, the Earl of Northumberland, vows to avenge him, and unites with the Archbishop of York and other discontented nobles to continue the civil unrest. Meanwhile, the boastful knight Falstaff—having emerged from Shrewsbury with greater wealth and repute—resumes his drunken misadventures in Eastcheap with a new page and swaggering ensign in tow, attracting the attentions of the coarse Doll Tearsheet and the ire of the impatient Mistress Quickly. His former companion Prince Hal, however, is now preoccupied with his father’s failing health and the weight of responsibility that will soon accompany his ascendance to the throne. While the rebel leaders plot their next moves and Falstaff bumbles his way out of tight spots and helps to recruit forces for the coming skirmish, the stage is set for an inevitable transition of power. The question is: who will end up gaining the most, and who will come up short? With a tone that is at once raucous and mournful, this peculiar work forces us to meditate on disease, death and destiny in a way that only a master like Shakespeare can accomplish.<br><br>And to perform it all? Three men (<a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11305">Craig Franklin</a>, <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10789">Tomas Peter</a>, and <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/9905">Brad “Hamlet” Filippone</a>) and two women (<a href="https://librivox.org/reader/13140">Jenn Broda</a> and <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/13852">Kelly S. Taylor</a>), determined to give you a performance of Shakespeare's work that you will never forget. You thought you knew your Shakespeare? Well, think again! (Summary by Tomas Peter)

you launched it earlier than I expected  Well...MW is ready now and since you probably alerted the group, I can move us straight to Readers Found.

As before, I can volunteer to PL the final assembled acts.

Have fun, all !

Also, if you want to do the cover again, Tomas, don't forget the preclaim ;)

Sonia
I will be on vacation from Wednesday 27 March till Sunday 14 April
and unable to PL during that time. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks everyone! The MW is now full and I've assigned everyone their scenes to PL and edit, taking into account the line counts for each scene to ensure there's an even distribution. Recording can now commence whenever you're free!

I'm just commenting to move our thread back up to the first page. Considering how quickly we got going on the last one, we've sure slowed down (including me!) on this one. :)

(not that there is any rush, of course)

lol yes, we haven't launched into this one right away, but as I said, there's no real rush. It's already amazing that we're doing a second Shakespeare play this early into the year. Usually this would be happening in the fall! So whenever people are ready to begin recording, they can do so.

I probably won't be able to get my parts done for a couple of weeks. Something unexpected popped up and has cut my recording time shorter than I'd like so I'm glad there isn't a rush to get this done.

"Do not forget: this visitation
Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose."

Okay, that is actually the Ghost from Hamlet, but I couldn't resist. :D

Meanwhile, here is the first of my King Henry scenes:

Wonderful, Brad! You nailed these monologues to a tee. Looking forward to hearing more! This file is PL OK.

I should be able to start submitting files this month. Is anyone else able to provide any quick updates? Again, no rush here; just want to know where everyone stands.
