wow this episode was hilarious. The poor man ! I can so feel for him in this dilemma. And you narrated it all wonderfully, the emotions displayed as if you well knew what he was talking about A very engaging story, and perfectly read. Straight PL ok. Thank you for offering your voice to the Black Cat. Maybe I'll hear you in one of the next issues againjeffreycrogers wrote: ↑April 6th, 2021, 7:34 amSection 4, "A Honeymoon Eclipse," by George C. Oh: just careful with the end silence...we want a standard of 5 seconds, you are a bit over 6...I will not fail you for this now as there is nothing else wrong, but don't make it any longer in future recordings.

Sonia,
Thank you so much for your kind words. In future I'll watch those silences more carefully!

thank you, Lynda I am sorry but I couldn't get around to PLing the section today. Will try to do it tomorrow or at the latest on Thursday. But it's not overlooked or forgotten, I updated the MW. Looking forward to finding out what it is all about.Lmnei wrote: ↑April 19th, 2021, 9:31 amHere is my submission - Section 2!

so sorry for the delay in feedback, Lynda, but finally I got around listening to the story. How lovely and especially with a happy-ending. I suspected quite fast that the Pompadour was Stephanie This was quite predictable.Lmnei wrote: ↑April 19th, 2021, 9:31 amHere is my submission - Section 2!

A very good reading and nearly word-perfect Thank you so much.
I only found a few small corrections to make, for a bit of a better understanding:
> at 1:51: (p. 18) "she would drive up in a coupé" – you say "cou" (it looks like you accidentally cut the final syllable (-pé – pronounced a bit like -pay)
> at 2:00: (p. 18) "and then she will fly back to the coupé" – same here
> at 13:23: (p. 21) repetition "but with all my heart" – one version can be cut
> at 24:05: (p. 24) "a danseuse" – you say "danuse" (leaving out the middle 's') which makes it a bit incomprehensible
> at 27:48: (p. 26) "of the danseuses" – same here
the rest was excellent

I did not know that coupe was pronounced that way! You learn something new everyday...

Lost Brook Trail is recorded. Must edit.
The Maine Woods and the Rangeley Lakes of this story were childhood stomping grounds, and two uncles made their living as fishing guides as does the narrator. Sadly it has been too many years since then and my Maine accent is no longer reproducible.
Thanks, Todd

it wasn't coupe, it was coupé. The accent on the e needs to be spoken. Otherwise you would have been correct, but here it changed the meaning of the word.Lmnei wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2021, 8:29 amHere are my changes to Section 2 -

Excellent corrections, Lynda, thank you so much. It's perfectly PL ok now.
Sonia
your local knowledge and childhood memories probably will influence this narrative in a good way, looking forward to it. And I would have loved to hear a Maine accent.

ah I love a good mystery. It shall be noted that less than 10 minutes into the story, I knew what (or rather who) Atherton was fishing for *smug grin* The daughter's involvment at the end managed to surprise me however. Which only makes the story even better. I love surprise highlights at the end.ToddHW wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2021, 4:34 amHere is Section 1. Length 41:09

Excellent narration, Todd, thanks so much ! So are all these names of rivers and areas real and known to you ?
I have two small notes which change the meaning a little bit:
> at 8:43: (p. 4) "that a natural interest in her father" – you say "instinct"
> at 34:33: (p. 14) "scarce daring to breathe" – you say "move"
