Thank you!
so I finally got around to listen to your very first section and I very much liked listening to your voice. You have a nice pacing, not too fast, not too slow and articulate very well, so it's easy to listen to and follow along with the text. Already looking forward to hearing more from you, so I hope you enjoyed recording as much as I enjoyed listening. :)

There are only a few minor cosmetic points to correct on your file:

> from 0:12-0:15: between "librivox.org" and "the world's story volume XV": three seconds of silence feel too long for a listener, even between paragraphs, I always recommend that 1 to maximum 1.5 seconds are fully enough to make a break. Could you cut down a few seconds here please ?

> from 8:53-8:55: between "a young battalion than that" and "end of section 10": also here, the break could be a little bit shorter

> at the end you have 8 seconds of silence, could you please cut them down to the standard 5 ?

That's all, the rest, the text as such, is perfectly narrated, so no need to re-record anything. Simply cut the silences a bit down on these three spots and reupload with the exact same filename, then the old file gets replaced by the new one

thank you

and finally, Andrew, another interested section, especially because I already went to visit the cemetaries of Paschendale and Verdun, and it was a shocking site to see so many simple crosses in the huge fields :(

An excellently narrated first section as well  great diction, easy to understand and your French pronunciation of the several town names is perfect.

I only have a few notes to correct, mainly concerning the silences in between paragraphs, just like I mentioned for Matt in my previous post. No need to re-record it all, it's only a few simple edits to make at the mentioned spots:

> the volume is only 82.7 dB, we accept between 86 and 92. Could you please amplify with +7 so you get close to the preferred average of 89 dB ?

> at the beginning, we recommend leaving 0.5 to 1 second of silence maximum. You have 7 seconds of silence, which is too much before the audio starts. Listeners may start to think it is a blank file ;)

> from 0:36-0:41: between the title and the start of the chapter, 5 seconds of silence definitely are too long. As I mentioned in my previous post, recommendable are 1 to maximum 1.5 seconds, which is enough for a listener to have a bit of a break in the narrative

> at 2:13: could you please add "The editor" here at the end of the introduction, just like it is written in the book

> from 2:12 to 2:15: between "the editor" and "the position captured by us" – also here, please cut the silence a little bit more

> from 3:16-3:18: between "the flanks of an attack" and "numerous communicating trenches": also here, shorten the silence by at least 1 second

> at 7:39-7:41: between "the way for the tank" and "end of section 28": also here: shorter silence

Simply reupload with the exact same filename to replace the old file with the new.

Thanks
