The volume is still inconsistent. You could try using the Leveler Effect in Audacity. It's not the standard way, but it's something I find effective on my recordings. It does basically the same as the compressor, but I expect it does it a different way 8-)
It might be a good idea to try and work out why it is happening... do you rock back and forward in your chair? Changing the distance between you and your mic would have that effect.

Hi Lynette:

Here is Sec 28 after limiter and condensing. I think I know what I might be doing. I think I need to try adding a sound before I start up after pausing and then delete the sound. My mic is taking a moment to pick up for some reason. I did buy the recommended mic. :hmm:

Hello! 🌸

I know you`re not speaking to me, but as an aspiring PLer and volunteer I`m interested in this too.
So, I`ve listened to both recordings (without downloading and analyzing them more deeply) and personally I don`t hear the decisive difference, for the first second or two are swallowed the same.
I think I need to try adding a sound before I start up after pausing and then delete the sound.
I suppose, it could be an appropriate way to adjust that, but right this time it hasn`t been realized well.
I`m waiting too for Lynette`s advices, but I think you`ll have to try another time to adjust at least the start of recording...
Nice to meet you! 🍭

I’m not sure how adding and deleting a sound will help. The problem is throughout the file, as you would get if you were fidgeting in your chair.
I’m not sure what you mean by “the recommended mic” — we don’t recommend any in particular, although USB mics cut out more background noise. To a large extent, you get what you pay for. My first mic was about $25. My current one was a gift from Santa a couple of years ago, and runs to about $400. It is certainly better (less tinny), but there’s no way we would tell anyone... especially new readers who are basically trying things out, to shell out that kind of money
