Joan and Peter, by H. G. Wells (1866 - 1946)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/joan-and-peter-by-h-g-wells/

This is satirical look at the English educational system and society in the early twentieth century and the effect of World War I on them by following the lives of Peter Stublands and the orphaned Joan. It is a sad indictment and Wells includes "An Apology of a Schoolmaster" to explain the constraints of the system. The text includes diagrams and charts, which the listener may access via the online text. (Summary by Lynne Thompson)

I'm sorry but Gary just beat you and we operate on a 'first come, first served' basis. The remaining chapters are all very long and have been divided across multiple section. I am asking readers to please claim all the sections in a chapter, but please feel free to claim any.

I’ll sign you up.
Chapters are divided into “parts”, so that will assist you in the divisions.

Hi! About to volunteer for some sections, but not sure how your section numbers and part numbers match up with the chapter numbers, and the section numbers within chapters.
For example, you have defined Oswald Takes Control as sections 12 and 13 - Part 1 and Part 2. But in the book, it is Chapter 9 and has 15 sections.

Based on the word count of the whole chapter, I decided how many sections each should cover (8,000-9,000 words being about an hour and not many of us like recording or listening to more than that in one sitting). The exact break down is down to individual readers... so you might think parts 1-3 are one section and 4-15 another.... or 1-7 and 8-15). We always use section numbers rather than chapter numbers although often they are the same. The break down within each chapter should be called “parts”.

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. Your sections will be held for 1 month pending your test. Please keep in touch if there is a problem.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I will add you using your forum name, but if you prefer your real name or a pseudonym let me know. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will be taken to your catalog page.Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.
