Here's a possible breakdown of chapter 12. There are 11 numbered parts in the original, with greatly varying lengths. To make 8 sections out of that without breaking any parts up, a few of them can be grouped together with shorter + longer ones, but due to the order they're in, that still won't make things very even:

s.23: (#1 + #2) 3339 words
s.24: (#3 + #4 + #5) 4021 words
s.25: (#6) 4682 words
s.26: (#7) 1556 words
s.27: (#8) 3133 words
s.28: (#9) 2650 words
s.29: (#10) 3217 words

Just a curiosity:
having the (#6) of 4682 words, will it not be better to unite (#7) & (#8), obtaining 4689 words and\or (#10) & (#11), obtaining 4896 words? In this way, it seems they`ll be more homogeneus...

Well, when I said "due to the order they're in", I mean "due to the order they're in and the necessity to keep it to exactly 8 sections." Other sections after these have already been recorded, with specific section numbers included in their intros, so I assumed that making fewer than 8 parts out of this wasn't an option.

In accordance to how you read it, I believe it would be appropriate to say: “Section 8 of Joan and Peter. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "Joan and Peter", by H. G. Wells.

In this way, is well done, for instance, section 22.

However, I wouldn`t noticed it, if it were the only irregularity.

I believe, “parts 1 through 4” at the start has to be removed.
Personally, I`d recommend to call it “Section 7”, just at the beginning (and only there), but this last advice remains to your own choice.

And the same – at the end of recording; “parts 1 through 4” has to be removed and I advise to say right as indicated in the MW:

"End of section 7."
