Hi Fernando. Those two sections are yours to enjoy but before recording them please finish fixing your technical specs in the 1 minute test. Actually the only thing not right is that your volume is a bit low and needs to be increased. Just move closer to the microphone or turn up the gain a bit and you will be fine. Your voice is great by the way!

Thank you for your kind support! (Still hating the sound of my voice!)

Here is the final version of Chapter 1 with fixes:

Patrice,

You are now perfect, voice and all. :D I think we all have that feeling when we start, "I sound like that? UGH!!". But you will get over it. Your voice is very nice, and easy to listen to. Keep up the good work.

Hello, I just finished sections 7 and 8. I was wondering if I could claim sections 9 and 10 as well.

Fernando,

Welcome to Librivox. Your recording is good, but there are a few things we need to look at.

First, there is a constant background noise throughout the recording. I did a little research and have found that this occurs in all your recordings even with your 1-minute test. Michele (wib66) gave you some great advice there. I ran your recording through Noise Reduction on Audacity, just as Michele suggested, and it really helped a lot. I would suggest going back to her comments on your test, and following her suggestions. It will help a lot.

Also,

3:34 It would not have been surprising if Mr. Coyote had flown into a great rage. The first word is kind of muddled, hard to hear if it is 'It' or 'I'. Also you said surprised.

You only need five seconds of silence at the end, and you have about 8.

And the time you post with the recording is the time for the whole file, not just the reading of the section.

Your volume is on quite the low side. The goal for LV is 89dB, with a range of 86-92. Yours is at 86.3. Since you are going in to work on it already, maybe you could use the Audacity 'Amplify' tool under the 'Effect' tab at the top of Audacity and increase it by about 3dB.

Just work on these things, the re-upload the corrected file using exactly the same name as this one. The server will just rename this one and keep it on file in case it is necessary to go back to it for some reason.

I will go ahead and PL the next one, and you can work on that too if needs be.

Wayne

Hope to hear from you soon,

Hi again,

This one has a few more reading glitches:

1:49 You know, I have a very sharp eye." You said my

2:20 You see, I haven't dug more than a half-dozen holes to-night." You added for between dug and more

2:36 he pulled his head out again You forgot the word again.

2:52 "I will," he agreed. You added an 'I' between 'will' and 'he' Just delete that.

3:11 a repeat

When you have more than one correction in a section, a hint that will make life a lot easier, is to start with the last one in the recording and work towards the front because that will keep the 'time stamps' correct.

You have to work on the noise on this one as well. Not quite a bad as seven, but still needs the work described above.

Two hints: one, be sure and listen all the way through your recording before you submit it, following along with the script before you save it as an mp3. That can make life a lot easier later in the process, and also, if you aren't, if you can, listen to the recording through headphones. One can pick up a lot more 'stuff' listening through them, instead of speakers.

Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged. We were ALL there once.
